Not me

No. All of the sexual harassment I was victim to took place in the corporate world. And there's been a lot.

I used to babysit for a single mom when she went out on dates, and she always had the date drive me home. I think it was 3 different times, 2-3 different guys. It was always totally awkward for me. And in hindsight, seems totally inappropriate and unsafe. If I babysat during the day, my parents would pick me up, but I guess they didn't see it necessary to pick me up at night. Rather have some random stranger man be in charge of driving me, late at night, probably after a few drinks.

But doesn't that eat into the kids profits from baby sitting? I usually drive my teenage sitter home. It's a reflection of the times we live in.

No because I pay for it. Thought that part was obvious.

I hope you are getting the babysitter’s parent’s permission for this. Minors aren’t supposed to ride in Ubers unattended.

Not really. Most sitters are in fact girls. I wouldn’t hire a male sitter ever, personally.

I would hire a male for my sons, but they are very hard sitters to find.

I remember being really uncomfortable during a drive with one of the dads I babysat for.

I am younger than most posters on this board (born in ‘93) and was driven home by the dads (always within the neighborhood) and they had usually been drinking. Nothing happened. Times really have changed.

Hire sitters that can drive themselves.

In my babysiting days back in the early aughts it was equally the mom's and dad's until I could drive myself.

Same and some of those dads were creepy.

I have one babysitter who lives in the neighborhood and walks home. The other babysitter drives. If it were raining or something, DH or I would drive her but it is just as likely to be DH as me.

Yep. I am a lightweight who won't drive even after 1 glass, it just doesn't feel safe.

Wrong. Not going to let a teenage girl walk home alone at night, unless it’s under five houses away.

I am. My daughter walks around at night a lot, and I don’t ever worry about it. Wevlivevin Chevy Chase and I would feel differently if we still lived in Shaw.

+1 why are people so paranoid?

Because one misunderstanding or fabrication will ruin a man’s life.

Only hire sitters who can drive.

This is what we do. We have our sitters from word of mouth and part of what we looked for was their own car.

And one creepy dad can ruin your daughter’s life.
