Lol. Are you new to Uber? The drivers are easily >80% male. |
All our sitters are adults, and if they don't have a car, i pay for an uber home. |
+2 |
As a teen babysitter in the late 90s, it was always the dads. Nothing inappropriate ever happened (and I remember I had a huge crush on one of these dads).
We only use sitters who can drive because we don't get out much sans kids and when we do, we are Ubering and having a few drinks. |
Times have changed. Never let a grown man take a teenage babysitter home alone. One false accusation or misunderstanding will destroy your husband’s life. One creepy dad’s advances will destroy your teenage daughter’s life.
Yeah, we all did it in the 90’s and it wasn’t smart then but it was a far less fraught time. |
When I babysat, it was a mix of the mom, dad or my parents. When I was old enough I drove. One family had me walk home alone at 1 AM and that was the last time I sat for them. I as a bit scared and ran home but at least was only a few blocks. My parents were furious. Nothing bad happened. |
It was always the dad when I babysat in the early aughts.
Now we pay for their Ubers. |
Interesting. Around here, babysitting pays more per hour than restaurant/retail work. I haven't had trouble but reached out to my regulars before the labor shortage really started. I also have one easy kid who goes to bed at 7:00 and is a great sleeper, so the vast majority of the job consists of sitting on my couch watching Netflix. |
