Who drives the babysitter home?

In my babysiting days back in the early aughts it was equally the mom's and dad's until I could drive myself.

It’s currently very hard to find evening occasional babysitters. Restricting it to drivers makes it almost impossible especially on busy weekends like holidays.

Yes if you have to pay for your transportation at job a or get free transportation at job b, which job would you pick?

Uber specifically requires an adult passenger in the car with a teen.

We’ve never had a babysitter that didn’t drive themselves or have a parent pick them up.

I don't know how old my sitter is, but she's over 18.

That’s the point. Hard to know if dad is a creep in advance. And the sexual orientation of the babysitter doesn’t matter if the dad is predatory.

So instead you put them in a Lyft/Uber with a completely unknown man. Makes sense I guess.

Hasn’t anyone read The World According to Garp?

Never never let your DH drive home the babysitter.

(I was molested by the friend of the dad of one of the kids I babysat.)

When I babysat I worried about the semi-drunk Father driving me home. Not because he was the Father. Not because he was a man. Just because, I could tell he had been drinking. Problem was, I don't think the Wife was much better. Glad I didn't live far, about 1/2 mile. I kinda evaluated it every time. Definitely wouldn't have done it if it were further.

When my DC was young enough to need sitters they were either from within walking/biking distance or they drove themselves. Same when I was a kid (sitters from the neighborhood). Where do you live that you have to drive sitters home?

Why are you assuming the Uber driver is male?

At 1/2 mile you could have just walked.

I'm at a loss as to why you think this would matter, when the concern is assault or allegations of assault.

I forgot how many people hire teen sitters. I was thinking "banging the nanny" concerns vs. #MeToo. My sitters are all over 20.

I’ve found in this labor shortage that finding adult sitters has become much more difficult.

Mom. When I was a kid and babysitting the dads always did. I won’t put my husband in that position though. Too easy for false allegations.

My kids regularly run over to the sitter’s house without an adult during the day to play with her younger siblings. But it was very dark and thirty degrees colder than when she’d walked over without a coat. Seemed mean to make the poor kid walk home.
