| I think both Billions and Succession are corny and way overhyped by New York and DC journalist dorks. If I want cheesy TV, I prefer Yellowstone. |
| 11:57: Same -- I got pretty obsessed by the end of Season 1. Season 3 has been tough, I will try my hardest to stick with it. |
|
We made it through the first 3 episodes and might give it a few more since so many of our friends love it.
It's not that it's a bad show...I can see why people like it....it's just, with all the great content there, life is too short to watch a series you don't totally love. I have so many other series I really look forward to on the nights I watch TV that I'd prefer to spend time on them. |
+1. If you don’t find the scathing and catty dialogue funny I doubt you’d enjoy the show. It’s not a show about good guys saving the day or pretty people falling in love, it’s about selfish rich people, witty dialogue, and greedy people being greedy. |
| Succession is about the absurdity of wealth and privilege. It’s dark comedy + family drama. I don’t know that everyone enjoys this type of humor. |
Yup it's super deep and edgy. Gotta be super hip, smart and cosmopolitan to "get it". |
+1. I’d give it another episode but if you aren’t enjoying it by then, it may just not be your style of humor. |
It's not deep at all. Sorry you don't get it. Weird life to worry about what other people do like but go off I guess. |
Definitely stick with it. The first season ramps up really powerfully by the end. Great writing and acting. |
It’s so good, definitely one of my favorite shows on air (maybe my favorite?). I don’t think I was completely sold until episode 4ish. |
It’s not very witty though. VEEP case was witty as f—k. Schitt’s Creek was hilarious. Nobody is attractive in Succession on top of being dumb, slow characters. And really, wiping the cum off the office window? That was just nasty for zero purpose cut to espresso squirting out like it’s some cinematic genius. |
| ^ VEEP cast |
Lol exactly. It’s basically the opposite of deep. I think it’s hilarious. Greg is my favorite. I also love Shiv’s wardrobe and the fact that a woman who isn’t stick thin is the star of a show. |
I imagine that scene, and Roman’s scene before it, are supposed to be gross and ridiculous. I don’t think there was any intention of making these scenes look like a “cinematic masterpiece”. Also, while I don’t agree that no one is attractive, why would that piece matter? I’m not trying to get off to it. |
| The main gal, Shiv, grosses me out. She's repulsive physically made worse that they try to frame her like some irresistibly sexy man-eater. Plus her personality is spoiled layabout dipshit who's never had a job in her life, yet we're to believe she's being groomed to become the CEO of $25bn media conglomerate? |
