Succession--does it get better?

This show is not for you, OP. Move on and watch something else.

I loved Schitt's Creek, but this one puts me to sleep. Don't get the hype.

I didn't like it after the first episode but kept watching bc DH was watching it, and by midway through season 1 I was hooked. That said, I felt the writing in season 3 ep 1 was a little forced and the characters are no longer as subtle.

It does take a little while to find its footing in Season 1, but it's great after that.

Though it mostly sounds like OP doesn't get the jokes.

Corny, cringe and try-hard. To the point I suspect anyone pushing this show is paid to do so.

Yeah it’s soooo edgy and sharp that OP doesn’t “get it”

Schitt's Creek was satire and it was pure genius, fun.

This is painfully boring.

So how far into Season 1 do I have to get until it gets better?

Boring to you. I liked it from the beginning so maybe it's just not the show for you?

Of course everything is "to you." It's an opinion on a TV show.

Calm down, Ms. Defensive.

I think you're confusing Billions with Succession

They were still doing a lot of that fast cut-in camera thing during season one, also, which drove me bananas. (I did and still do like the show, though.) Thankfully, they stopped doing that.

I found it hilarious and was hooked by episode 2 or 3 but I think it’s not everyone’s type of humor. I was a huge fan of arrested development, too, and I know not everyone liked that show.

I do know some people who didn’t like it because they found the main characters unlikeable but, I took that to be the point. They are ridiculous and that’s part of the whole joke.

I really want to like this show.

I’ve gotten through the first two episodes and I absolutely can’t stand it. The people are all just so awful. They aren’t even good looking. Nothing happens. It’s just watching a bunch of vapid, rotten, ugly people be mean to each other.

Can someone tell me what’s appealing about it? It’s not funny, no eye candy, no cool city scapes, no action, etc…..what is the hook?

Haha I watch and enjoy both but, yes, billions can be so corny. I think, because succession is satire and a comedy it can pull off the over the top dialogue and ridiculous characters.

I find a lot of the characters very likable, but I guess that says something about me.

DP. I don’t really consider it satire. And it’s funny, but not exactly a comedy.

My parents felt the same way but I thought it was hilarious. I love the characters in the way I love the iconic Lucille Bluth.
