UVA #1 safety school!
Wahoo! |
The list changed between their pre-release and the official release (when they updated the ranking title and everything). With the exception of Duke falling to 12th, the top 9 are still the same. |
Being a leader in Pell really has to do with state demographics. |
The site is glitching for me and Duke is showing up twice. Is Duke’s actual ranking #12 for this year? |
Duke is 9. It's was 12 last year. |
Duke is showing up twice for me too |
Also Hopkins disappeared... |
Don’t like this attitude. This site is full of whining about merit scholarships, aid, etc. Delivering a quality education at a good price is admirable and should be recognized. |
Where is UMD? |
Except that public universities have no control over the number of Pell students. Students apply and get in or not. Then the parents fill out the FAFSA and that determines (by the US Dept of ED) who qualifies for a Pell grant. And Congress gets to tinker with that percentage every year. So the university has no idea how many Pell Grant recipients it will have at the time of acceptance. Universities in states with lower per capita incomes, like California, will always have a great percentage of Pell grant students-similarly Michigan with applicants from Detroit. So it is unfair for USN&WR to use this as an evaluator since universities have no control. Read wiki on Pell Grants. |
It’s down at 59. |
Yeah because everyone in Virginia is so wealthy, wealthier than California apparently. |
The California schools were ranked high long before the Pell grants were factored in. |
83. SUNY Binghamton
83. Colorado School of Mines 83. Elon 83. Howard 83. Marquette 83. Michigan Sate 83. Stevens Tech 83. Texas Christian U 83. UC Riverside 83. U Iowa |
I know! UCD is superior to those schools in every way. Go Ags! |
