So, in conclusion: Do I think that whatever proportion of this 28 people are still alive (the data goes back more than 40 years) should either take the J&J or responsibly mask & socially distance -- either until there is another vaccine made without PEG available, or until we consider ourselves fully out of the pandemic? Yes. yes, I do. If that is what you mean by "taking one for the team," I surely do. About that number of infants -- little babies, PP -- have already died of COVID in the US. Probably more, but the data hasn't been dully updated. |
^^fully updated |
Do the numbers on percentage of vaccine hesitant folks in the population include their children? Everyone one of my teens friends with vaccine hesitant parents is planning on getting the vax as soon as they are 18. |
No free Krispies Kreme donuts... |
New Jersey became the latest state to introduce a vaccine incentive, announcing Monday the launch of its “shot and a beer” program which rewards the newly inoculated with a free beer at participating breweries.
In Maryland, state employees who get the shot—or have already been fully vaccinated—will receive a $100 incentive payment. Meanwhile in West Virginia, in perhaps the most ambitious program to date, Gov. Jim Justice (R) announced last week the state will give all 16- to 35-year-olds who get the vaccine a $100 savings bond. |
Yeah what are the capacity restrictions there? We went to a Nats game last weekend and everyone was pretty spread out. Unless the Mets/Yankees are looking to pack more people in, having vaccinated/unvaccinated sections make zero sense for an event that is outdoors with adequate social distancing and masks required. Are they going to have separate bathrooms too? |
Only 27 people in the entire world allergic to PEG? Really? PEG is a component of medications? There's a difference between injection and ingestion. |
Then no one should have died of anaphylaxis because they are tracked and should have been warned, correct? |
Same here. And their kids are furious with them. The anti-vaxxer parents are ruining their relationships with their teens who (correctly) have assessed that their parents care more about their own egos and delusions than they care about their children's health. I guess that's an impact on anti-vaxxer people. Their kids now hate them. |
More than 27 people have had anaphylaxis though. |
Of course they have. PP is in fantasyland. |
Yes. I am not sure why you think all the vaccines are only composed of PEG? All thee vaccines are composed of multiple components, NONE of which is common to all three. I was responding to the PP who was concerned that people who are PEG-allergic can only get the J&J. If any of you who are critical of this point (or my prior posts) would like references about the incredible scarcity of PEG anaphylaxis, I will dig them up. I'd appreciate some indication that this would be useful to you, and why. |
I think we should make all vaccinated people get some sort of scannable invisible tattoo on their hand or forehead. Then in order for anyone to be able to shop, participate in sports, school or church, we should scan their hand or forehead to make sure they are vaccinated.
The unvaccinated can run to the mountains. |
I can't tell if I am misreading you, or if you think everyone knows what they are allergic to since birth, or since they turned 20, or what have you. Help me out. It's an incredibly rare allergy. It's a component of some contrast dyes and other things widely used in medicine. - Some anaphylactic reactions have to have been missed -- that's just because nothing in medicine (or life) is perfect. STILL incredibly rare. - Some people would surely develop reactions de novo (or at least, after some prior exposure to which they did not significantly react). STILL incredibly rare. My point is that people on this board are worried about this, and bring it up, and discuss it as if the numbers are significant. Fair enough, but they think the numbers of child deaths, of infant deaths, of completely healthy young people in their 20s and 30s without underlying conditions are somehow so insignificant that they don't factor into the equation. That is, and there is no way to put this bluntly, so completely assbackwards that it makes no logical sense at all. |
