Maybe the Republicans could run Rob Schneider. Or John Schneider. |

If either party could convince Matthew McConaughey to run, I think they’d win. |
Um, ok. Nothing you said is relevant to what I said. But sure. |

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) just officially took herself out of the running. Rumor is the term-limited Whitmer could become her alma mater Michigan State University's president. A newly vacant gig that pays upwards of $2 million per year.

She probably should prove she is electable in the large swath of NY that is not NYC first. People forget that you actually can’t win a statewide election in NY without cobbling together support outside of NYC. As someone originally from Western NY, I do not see her appeal extending outside of the liberal echo chamber of NYC. I think she hasn’t challenged Schumer because she knows the real risk that she will lose and it will damage her ability to promote herself as an electable national candidate. |
What could be her bigger ambition? |
Here’s her answer: “What’s funny is they assume my ambition is a title or a seat. My ambition is to change this country. Presidents come and go. Senate, House seats, elected officials come and go”. “But single-payer healthcare is forever. A living wage is forever, workers’ rights are forever, women’s rights, all of that, and to a finer point to your question is that when you aren’t attached, when you haven’t been like fantasizing about being this or that since the time you were seven years old, it is tremendously liberating”. She wants to “make decisions from a place of how are we going to change the country”. “I make decisions by waking up in the morning, looking out the window and observing the conditions of this country. And saying what move or what decision can I make today that is going to get us closer to that future, stronger, faster, better than yesterday”. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/may/09/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-presidential-run |
That is nothing more than word salad. There is no substance whatsoever. |

Meidas touch: “It's time to retire this idea from some that Democrats should nominate a straight white guy in 2028 to be "safe."
Just look at GOP attacks on James Talarico, a straight white Christian. They're calling him "Tofu Talarico" and "transgender" and running the exact same culture-war playbook they've used on everyone else. They called Joe Biden a communist. Don't base decisions on GOP talking points. Pick the best candidates and stand by your values.“ |
You said that her reply was based on the fact that she’s not electable. I was pointing out that we elected the worst human being that we could scrape up out of the bottom of a porta potty. I mean, I guess that if being a terrible person is the threshold for electability you are right. |
She would have been one of my top choices, but she hurt herself with the binder-hiding in the Oval office. |
Anyone who can throw Project 2025 into the fireplace is dangerously to them. |
To own the bar. |
