I think Trump/Musk are right but the timing and execution are terrible. It's going to be a rough 4 years. |
I see a lot of this sentiment on Twitter. Right about what? |
I’m not that concerned about a shutdown and I’m a fed. I’m more concerned that an unelected billionaire was able to blow up the original CR plan. |
Tax cuts. Everything is about that one big tax cut bill he can pass under reconciliation. He promised trillions of increased deficit spending and they need as much wiggle room as they can get. |
Good one, have to agree. And I am a democrat. |
GOP: party of losers
What an unbelievable and shameful pathetic display. One simple job. Appropriation. And here the GOP is, scraping and bowing No ideas. No values. No spine. Less than 24 hours. |
They get a lot more than one vote because these days money votes. https://www.citizen.org/news/study-one-fourth-of-maxed-out-campaign-contributions-come-from-the-richest-1-of-zip-codes Also stop whining about them paying 73% of the taxes because they also own that much of America's wealth. The wealthy are by no means being overtaxed. |
110 billion unpaid for is peanuts compared to the trillions in tax cuts. Ditch those massive tax cuts and you'll start making some real progress. P.S., trickle-down is a lie. |
Right about calling cancer research "wasteful Dem pork" as if no Republican ever gets cancer? That's the excuse they made for attacking the bipartisan bill that Johnson made a deal with the Democrats on. Right about trying to protect certain specific China deals that Musk is heavily invested in? Right about trying to protecting greedy vultures like United Health? That's what was in the supposedly "clean" CR that Trump wanted that got defeated tonight. |
Most Americans will remember this one as the Biden/Harris shutdown since they are the President and Vice President.
It's on them. |
Wrong. It's well known that there was a deal in place and that Musk killed it. Keep dreaming, it ain't happening. |
Well, Dems have the WH and the Senate so they are in control and they have the power until January 20 so Dems own this one thanks to Biden. |
Except funding bills originate in the House where Republicans have the majority. Too bad they are too worried about themselves to do the job they were elected to do. And let’s shine light on the fact that this is at least the second major bill that they’ve blown up in bending to the will of someone not in office. Further proving that they have no respect for their oath of office, the constitution, or the American people. And further highlighting how weak they are and have no clue how to govern and that their word/agreements are worthless. |
If Johnson could effectively handle the representatives of his own party (the way Pelosi could) he'd be able to pass a bill with only Republican support. While that might not fly with the Senate, it would at least have given him some leverage in negotiation. Instead he needed to bring in Democrats just to get something on the House floor. Which is not necessarily a bad thing - at least, it wasn't until Elon got involved. |
Ha ha. No. |
