Except funding bills originate in the House where Republicans have the majority. Too bad they are too worried about themselves to do the job they were elected to do.

If Johnson could effectively handle the representatives of his own party (the way Pelosi could) he'd be able to pass a bill with only Republican support. While that might not fly with the Senate, it would at least have given him some leverage in negotiation. Instead he needed to bring in Democrats just to get something on the House floor. Which is not necessarily a bad thing - at least, it wasn't until Elon got involved.[/quote]
