Hayfield Football Coach Fired

TJ's integrity is just fine.

Hayfield Coach and program is a joke and everyone--including coaches of real teams--is laughing at his tiny little ego.

Yep!

No other football program in FCPS is anywhere near as trashy and problematic as Hayfield/Overton. Its really an embarrassment to the whole Hayfield community and FCPS that this gross behavior was permitted. (Let alone all the issues with the drugs and thieves and nutjobs in the skeazy entourage.)

Not even Langley? They started with a predator head coach and there are recruiting rumors about them too.

All the Hayfield coach has done is attracted talented football players, won games, and is helping gets get collegiate football scholarships.

There is no more gross behavior than that of the Langley Coach and things that have been going on with the Langley staff the last few months. Why so much vitriol for Hayfield?

They lost, so it seems like a reasonable matchup. Not sure what TJs football
team has to do with Overtons's cheating.

Agree. I once saw a turtle. TJ’s football schedule has as much relevance to Overton discussion as does that turtle sentence.

Why can’t they just pick on someone their own size?

During the merit admission era, TJ teams that did play regular high schools made an agreement with the other coach to only play their JV team. This includes the 2020 year as previously claimed. Their ether played a JV team or a home school team.

For those complaining about Hayfield, those kids not playing for his team can play JV or Rec ball elsewhere. Varsity sports, as with any other activity (non-sports) has an impact on college admission, the student needs to be able to demonstrate achievement, as well as depth of involvement, and leadership. Students don’t get selected to a college just because they were participants in the Junior and Senior Years of their high school experience..

JV is often kids 13 and 14 years old. A 6A varsity high school team with 17, 18, and 19 year olds shouldn’t be playing football against against 13 and 14 year olds. That’s ridiculous and unsafe.

Are you insane? JV football is 10th-11th grade. In FCPS, those would be kids no younger than 15. Kids turn 16 ad sophomores.

Kids who are 13 are in 7th grade.

A kid with a September birthday should be 13 in FCPS for most of his freshman football season. He could be a JV player, especially if the school doesn’t feild a freshman team. It’s not safe to expect him to have to play against a varsity team.

Isn't the story that the Langley head coach was immediately fired? I don't seen the comparison.

Please link to the articles about the Langley football recruiting scandal.

Wrong. He would turn 14 in Sept of 9th grade. And he would be playing on the freshman team.

I don't see how discussion of TJ football is relevant (except I guess as a matter of interest in that both teams played Lewis.)

No one in the entire state thinks anything TJ football is doing is unfair, except Overton's mon, who keeps posting in here about how everyone ELSE is just as gross and bad as Hayfield.

Right, this whole convo is dumb.

Hayfield’s proposal is suspiciously good and all these people online making allegations and unproven assumptions about Hayfield, yet there is no policing these other schools. Almost as if there is something personal going on.

It’s just a game people. I’ve just been reading under this topic finding it interesting. I don’t have any kids at Hayfield or any of the schools that have gotten whipped up on by Hayfield so I have no dog in the fight, but after reading all the hatred toward a team of kids and the coach that are having success, I’m kind of rooting for them now.

Hope they win the championship. I hope Overton doesn’t lose a game for as many seasons as he stays at Hayfield. And all you haters can keep on being saltier than a peanut.

I expect most everyone commenting on this topic will be rooting for Hayfield in this Friday night’s Va vs Md clash. It’s the NSMT Game of the Week and possibly the game of the year in the DMV. All the summertime controversy is ancient history to the Washington Post and other media hyping up this game.

I’ll be at another game with the family, but I predict a sellout crowd at the Hayfield stadium. Good luck to Hayfield as they represent all of Virginia.

OP here. It’s clear. One is a case of sexual misconduct, another if a Black coach helping Black kids go to college. He’s guilty, guilidy, guilty. For being Black, and challenging whites.

And the latter is far more severe of a crime.

No, a bunch of cheaters does not represent "all of Virginia". How absurd and insulting. Sane people with values who respect public school sports find Overton's
cheating, poor sportsmanshio, insecure man antics and the multiple Hayfield scandals involving this team extremely distasteful.
