Pretty good explanation. It is a holdup but there are ways around it. So, I guess it is just a stand off.

Nothing wrong with allowing a vote. Doesn't have to be a bulk sale. If it is really a matter of national security, then Schumer should allow votes.

There’s only so much floor time in the Senate calendar and there are 300+ officers. This is ridiculous.

It is a matter of national security, and the republicans need to do their jobs.

Their job is to approve candidates they approve of. Let them vote on the candidates, Senator Schumer!

Great! Now if Tuberville would like to list the names of those he does not approve of, he can go on the record with that.

No it did not. This was always about hundreds of rank and file officers. Go back in this thread to the posts from July 11. https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/28/politics/tuberville-senate-holds/index.html

Tuberville is the one holding up the vote.

Republicans are holding up the vote.
Republicans are hurting our military.

The GOP is making our military weak and dysfunctional. We've never had this kind of hold-up before, it's unprecedented. It needs to end. Republicans, get your boy under control.

Perhaps DOD should leave making laws to the Congress and not decide on their own that taxpayers should be footing the bill for abortion and three weeks additional leave for soldiers.

Remember, if you need to go to your parent's funeral, you must use your own leave. But, want an abortion? 3 weeks additional leave and it's paid for.

That issue is irrelevant to the officer nominations. He is a Senator on the Armed Services Committee. He could get a vote on the leave policy very easily. He’s an idiot who painted himself in a stupid corner because he has no clue how anything works.

Next they are going to shut down the federal government and will surely lose in 2024. They are earning enough elsewhere to make all this profitable for themselves.

"Remember?" You misremember or don't have your facts straight. DoD DOES grant servicemenbers bereavement leave for funerals.
