Do you think the college friend planted it to “play games”?

I think she didn't ask him because she had just made that speech about how "fine" they are when she is clearly enormously insecure about her marriage. She's so triumphant about how fake Cameron and Daphne are, but the truth is that she wants that kind of affection with Ethan, just without the cheating. And she and Ethan haven't had sex once on this vacation and if Ethan's previous little speech is evidence, they haven't had frequent sex in awhile. She has to be wondering where Ethan is getting his sexual needs met. And whoever said that waverunner scene was gay AF, well, how about Ethan and Cameron in bed. What was that?

I can't quite make out the gays and Tanya storyline. It feels really scammy, but what's the angle? Maybe it sets up a blowup with Greg when he returns.

I am not going to dog on Portia, because honestly, I would have done exactly what she did. Except I think Jack is nasty and I wouldn't have picked him over Albie. But in my 20's I was anything but direct and would have been a duplicitous little B instead of being direct.

Albie and Lucia are icky and I feel bad for him. His dad will not be able to keep his mouth shut and that's just going to make it all the worse.

I don't really understand where things are going with Mia and Lucia. Lucia's repentance seemed awfully sudden, as did Mia's reversal.

I am hugely intrigued by Valentina. Her behavior is so...off. She's the manager, but every request a guest has made is flatly rebuffed. And then she doesn't care. Or maybe it's just Dominic? And then she buys jewelry for Isabella (I think that's her name) after one conversation which was almost totally focused on work. And then physically forces the gift on her?

I think it's the other way round. He will be desperate for Albie not to know. If Lucia can make Albie catch feelings for her, she can then blackmail Dominic for keeping her mouth shut about their involvement.

I definitely think Lucia is angling for a trip to LA so I can see it. And it's not going to be hard to gt Albie to have feelings for her.

My thought on Dominic is that he's going to think he's warning/helping Albie and will use it as an example of him "changing" even though he hasn't really done anything to change. Either way, I think it definitely comes out.

I

Agree! Dominic might even blackmail Albie into advocating to his wife for him.

Uh, Dom's wife is going to be much more upset that her husband slept with a prostitute than that her son did. Albie has the leverage here, if he wants it, not the other way around. But I think Lucia is the one who is best positioned to use this knowledge to her benefit.

Yeah, I don't see Albie being the type to blackmail his parents. Also, it's not clear what Albie really wants so it's not clear what his goal would be in blackmailing anyone. I guess he mainly wants a girlfriend? Blackmailing Dom is not going to make that happen. But Lucia definitely wants money and maybe a ticket to LA. She's highly motivated and has also been show to play fast and loose with ethics.

Haven’t read the whole thread but am I the only one who thinks Ethan is a closet case? Never wants to have sex, masturbating in secret. The way Cameron trolls him about being inside him might be a tell of a plot line yet to come. My money is on him somehow getting with one of the gay guys at the hotel or being the murderer at the end? Has as a lot of repression going on, either sexual or violent or both.

I think the same.

Did anyone recognize the French gay as the coworker on Emily in Paris?

DP but I'd kind of enjoy it if went this way because probably the only characters I'm "rooting" for are Lucia and Mia to get some cash so they can stop living how they are living. I very much agreed with Lucia that this is no way to live -- they don't even have a place to sleep unless they scam their way into someone's room! In Season 1, the non-rich people were all hotel staff and there was some obvious inequities on display but at least all of the staff in Season 1 could go home at the end of the day and sleep in their own beds. I want Lucia to get her store and Mia to find a job singing somewhere.

But White Lotus isn't exactly a "happy ending" show so probably they will wind up dead in the water.

You do know there are other ways they could earn money other than prostitution right? They could work at the hotel. They don’t have to sell their bodies to make money.

Maybe but wasn’t he masturbating to women?

I think before the end we should have a better understanding of the history between Cameron and Ethan. Did Ethan hit on Cameron once at college and now Cameron is trying to lure him in to use that info? What is going on in Ethan’s head? He hasn’t really done any total douchbro things yet — is it coming? Or is he a good guy that is still going to lose his marriage?

I think maybe the twist will be that Ethan will do something heartless to Cameron and his wife that turns the tables on how they have been playing him and Harper.

Well the preview for the coming weeks sets up Cameron kind of paying attention to harpers character, and Ethan getting angry at him and accusing him of always needing to have things that aren’t his - or something to that effect. Something is definitely bubbling under the surface.

The obvious irony is that Cameron and his wife cheat and play toxic games but have intimacy, and Ethan and Harper have been faithful to date yet feel much more insecure in their relationship.

There is also definitely some gay undercurrent with Ethan and Cameron. Why is Cameron always kissing him and saying shit like he wants to be inside him? To your point, is he taunting Ethan? Is Cameron bi? The only guys I knew in college who behaved that way weren’t straight. Ethan seems to have some repressed sexuality issues, but what is up with Cameron?

Valentina is a lesbian and has a crush on the subordinate desk girl. She’s getting flustered like a school girl.

The British nephew looked like he was about to rape Portia. He was so crass and working class Manchester.

Harper wondered if Ethan hooked up with a guy or a woman. She probably thought he might be gay due to lack of affection, no interest in sex.

From the scenes for next week, they made it look like Harper screws Cameron and Ethan is banging on the door trying to get in. They also show Ethan strangling Cameron underwater. He was wearing a white tee shirt like the guy that had his arm around Cameron’s neck.

I loved the gay party/entourage, but I also get the feeling they are targeted Tanya because a she’s a multi-millionaire.

After the piano player OD'd I wished Mia would have just grabbed the mic. She has a lovely voice. And of she was willing to sleep with the gross pianist in hope of achieving her dream, it would have made sense for her to shoot her shot.

Exactly why she is into him. He’s overconfident and crass and bold. Finally the adventure she was looking for.

I didn’t get the sense Harper was suspicious Ethan had hooked up with a man. I thought she prickled more when he said they were talking to women at the bar. Idk if he’s gay (why would he be masturbating to women if he his?) but I don’t think Harper thinks he is.

I think Harper was just in shock when she found the condom wrapper. she's trying to make sense of it all in her head before saying something. but leaving it on the bathroom counter means it will have to be addressed the next day, right? It looks like from the preview Ethan meets Lucia and Mia near the front desk so he probably has to pay them the rest of what's owed but then harper sees them.

I definitely think the story about the woman in the house on the island is foreshadowing something. What if Dominic's wife does come and then it's her in the water. Maybe far fetched but I feel like that would fit and be an interesting twist.

I'm confused about the Valentina story now. Giving the other woman the broach was just weird.

Allbie gives me the creeps. All is not what is seems there.

I don’t think Ethan is gay. But Cameron is clearly broke.

I think at this point she still trusts Ethan deep down and is trying to piece together the whole series of events, including her “abduction” by Daphne. She’s on to something but can’t quite connect the dots yet. I expect the misunderstanding will deepen tragically before she’s able to figure anything out, though.
