I really don’t think it’s that. I’m the person who was wondering how he knew the back door will be unlocked. And I don’t think it’s anything like that, I think it’s more like he has scouted it out, he was there earlier in the day, had an extra key, etc.

Since they all went to high school together and currently go to the same church, did the parents know each other? Have his parents made any statements?

Or the real question, how did he know it would be open/unlocked?

Yes!!!!! I just thought of this after posting. Unless he entered during normal daylight/evening hours when the family was going in and out of house and hid somewhere in their home?

I watch too many crime dramas.

Back to accusing the wife. Surprised the husband is not a suspect to you people.

Some of us are looking at this case as crime investigators. You think investigators aren’t asking these same questions? Who leaves back door open in this day and age? In urban area off busy road. It’s not personal.

I’m speculating there’s a text message/Instagram direct message trail.

I am still a bit confused that she did not recognize him? And that she hid in a downstairs bathroom rather than going up to the floor where the very young children were sleeping?

There was a statement made to a reporter that he was delusional and that the relationship only existed in his head, said to be someone close to family as source. But,court docs seemed to indicate either dated or ex-boyfriend?

No great way to handle unsafe people, it was said that he reached out repeatedly. And that he also went to their church. They were very involved, so, not easy to walk away. I can't imagine going to the funeral with memories of the killer in the same building.

I hope she has access to really good trauma counseling. What a nightmare and a tragedy.

So she was sleeping in bed next to victim, suspect begins shooting, she runs out of bedroom to downstairs bathroom? Suspect didn’t say anything to her?

He probably had on a hat/mask. Ever watched a crime drama?

Also it was dark, she was in a dead sleep and probably incredibly disoriented

a) It was the middle of the night. She had probably just been sleeping, maybe couldn’t see well due to not having contacts in/glasses on, murderer may have been wearing a mask or something that disguised him, she was probably totally out of it and terrified and disoriented. It’s not hard to imagine how all those factors would make it difficult for her to recognize him

B) I think it’s been reported that the bedroom where the murder took place/where she and her husband were sleeping was downstairs so maybe it had a bathroom attached or nearby and she hid there since it was the only place she had time to get away to.

So you think you have all the info on the crime scene? And the actions of the perp?

I'm guessing he tried on multiple occasions. This time he got lucky and found a way in. I was not diligent about locking the back door, until one night when someone tried to make their way in. Thankfully it was locked that time, and by the time I got the courage to go near it and look out, the person was gone. I now make sure that back door is locked every night.

I thought same thing! He probably tried a few nights until bingo they left the door unlocked by accident. I guess every night since he bought the gun.
