Mask mandates were not costing people their means of sustenance. And I will not prioritize your lack of resilience over someone else’s life.

They were just the icing on the cake. Let’s not forget school closures, job loss, financial struggles, social isolation, etc. Just like you breathlessly proclaiming how “self centered” you learned everyone was, we also learned how completely awful and dismissive your kind was towards the hardships others faced these past 2 years. Job loss, virtual schooling, suicides, etc. All you see is Covid, when it became so much more than that. But you obviously don’t see it that way because you probably didn’t have the same experiences others did. I genuinely don’t understand the way your brain works. I wonder if you’re a troll after all this time because you’re practically a caricature of the worst kind of Covid enforcer.

Ahh, the drama llama of the anti-masker. Masks didn’t cause people to lose their jobs. Virtual learning didn’t cause suicide but it may have prevented school shootings.

Funny how virtual learning was sooo bad (and I know kids who thrived with it and those who struggled) and yet almost every parent who suddenly became a teleworker never want to go back to the office. In the long run it wasn’t the worst thing that kids got a little glimpse of their future working life.

All of that said, your selfishness lies in the fact that Covid was devastating for 900,000 Americans and their families but you were unconvinced by it. I’m sorry you had to wear a mask.

Yet many of us wore our masks when mandated and got vaccinated. I can’t help it that you’ve decided to invent your own parameters for what is morally good, beyond what is reasonable and necessary. I could invent my own parameters for goodness and scream at you about how lacking you are, but that would be crazy. You don’t seem to realize that.

And by the way, not everyone had the chance to telework and happily manage their kids’ online school. It’s blindingly clear you got to ride out Covid in comfort. Others did not. But their struggles don’t matter to you. However, they made the choices they had to, and I doubt they give any cares whatsoever to what some sanctimonious online nobody thinks.

+1. Excellent display of privilege. What about the families who don’t have laptops, internet, or child care to ensure their kids attend virtual school? The single parents who have to work (at home or in person) and can’t get their six year old to pay attention to an online class? What about the kids who don’t get a warm meal or a meal at all if they’re not in school? And before you shriek at me that I dont care about them anyway, that’s not answering my question. We participated in many food drives and food collection and bagging events that support these communities, and have given money to our local PTA food bank. Stop acting like virtual school was a minor inconvenience and kids were barely affected.

We gave them financial support and eviction moratoriums that you shameless GOP types are now complaining about to score cheap political points. It doesn’t matter what we do the republicans will oppose it and use it as a wedge.

As bad as that was for them, it would have been collectively worse for everyone without virtual school, telecommuting, etc., with everyone congregating together.

And, you don't care about them anyway.

Schools that got ahead of the curve years ago by providing Chromebooks adjusted just fine. Perhaps worry more about what your school system is able to provide and forward thinking than spending your time looking for books to ban.

And by the way, I had to work in the public, I did not get to telework but I don't begrudge those who could.

The phrase “changing science” is why ordinary thinking people have started to become skeptical of science.

Science is supposed to be fact. If something isn’t based on facts, then it’s not science. Saying “it’s the best science we have at the time” is pathetic. Science is binary. Something either is, or it isn’t. It doesn’t change. Anything that doesn’t fit into those two boxes isn’t science.

The greatest tragedy of this entire stupid pandemic is the damage done to the credibility and reputation of ACTUAL science. There’s now at least a couple generations who will forever be skeptical of “the science” because of idiots like that.

If you don't understand that science always changes just tells everyone that you don't understand science.

Science is open to new evidence, some things change faster than others. How many weather reports over the years have missed the mark yet were generally accurate? I mean, sorry they said 5 inches of snow and only 3 fell but atmospheric changes happen.

Anyone who understands science also understands that science never speaks in terms of facts but in degrees of certainty. As new information is learned those certainties can change.

But above all, science is a PROCESS and a process that welcomes scrutiny. That scrutiny, over time can alter or outright change previous held conclusions.

And this is the problem people have had with right wing, ignorant outrage. Yes, scientific concessions changed on masks as we learned new information. Cloth masks seemed generally fine UNTIL new variants proved to be more contagious and required a more sophisticated barrier than a simple cloth mask. But, cloth masks proved cheap and pretty effective for the first year until Delta. The virus mutated and so we had to adjust as a result. That doesn't mean the science was wrong, the variables changed.

I'm sorry simple people cannot grasp that. But here we are.

Youngkin and his hoard rode in on "education" platforms. And in the last day tried to instate a 20 week abortion ban and reinstate the death penalty in VA. This was voted down in the Senate.

Just to be clear: This was their bait and switch all along. And those of you who voted so narrowly on one issue that he was NEVER going to change in any meaningful way, gave us this.

Good job.
