Baltimore County removed the mask mandate a few days ago. It's a reliably blue county. I can't imagine Alexandria would have a higher COVID transmission rate than we do

I am vaxxed and boosted. I wear a mask in public because I don't want to catch covid. I lost valuable time I could have spent with my dad dying of cancer due to covid. My children lost over a year in school due to covid. I spent at least 1 year entirely isolating from the outside world and then many months to now being cautious and calculated about my interactions with the public. Why in the hell would I have done any of that to just get covid now because people want to throw a middle finger to science and refuse to vax, boost and/or wear a mask due to personal freedom bs?

Wear your mask. No one says you can’t. That isn’t what is happening. But you shouldn’t get to tell me that I have to wear a mask forever. No one has researched the affect of masks long term on asthmatics. But I can tell you my sons asthma was gone before the Covid masks. No meds or episodes for two years. Now he takes maintenance again twice a day. So your personal issues are guiding your choices and mine are guiding mine. Yours are not more important to me than mine. That is the deal.

No they removed the signs a while ago because Northam had lifted the mask mandate in summer 2021 and never reinstated it. The state officially recommends that people follow CDC guidelines.

I don't know what sort of environment is more conducive to variants but my understanding is they are primarily a product of untreated people with weak immune systems who carry the virus for an extended period.

That said, I'm not sure there is evidence one way or another whether variants actually extend the pandemic period associated with a new virus.

I have asthma and wearing a mask has had absolutely no effect. Same with my brother who has asthma.
