Never had a BLT ... best recipe? More importantly, are they good?

I am not 100% sure on the texture. Better with crispy bacon or soft bacon?

Crispy bacon. Chewy bacon makes it too hard to eat.

They are the best thing in the world. This will get your kid to like lettuce and tomato. Definitely crispy bacon, mayo and toasted bread.

Recipe? Seriously?

The best. I like mine on rye bread. Otherwise, recipe? You take bacon, lettuce and tomato, add mayo if you wish and voila.

Not too crispy, or it gets bitter and just crumbles, or falls out of the sandwich on the first bite. I like the bacon medium, and it's best if it's thick-slice.
It's best on toast. And only real mayo, not Miracle Whip.

Toast the bread lightly so the sandwich doesn't fall apart as you eat it.

Generous amount (IMHO) of good quality mayo.

Crispy bacon.

Choose a sturdy lettuce.

Prepare yourself for tastebud heaven.

Seriously.

Bubble wrapped life?

This is the wrong season for a bacon, lettuce and TOMATO sandwich if you truly want the best experience

Best memories from the summer are my grandmother's BLT with tomatoes from Her garden!

Okay so here's the trick. Toast your bread but put both slices in the same toaster slot, so that the inside stays soft. This way the bread doesn't tear your mouth up!

There's only 5 ingredients so make sure they are good. Ideally you're making this in summer with garden ripe tomatoes but if not, just find the best ones you can.

Good bread, toasted like I told you
Iceberg lettuce is traditional
Good tomatoes, sliced thick, salt and pepper them
Good bacon, fried and drained of grease
Hellmans mayo

Yes. Eat this in August with a fresh seasonal tomato. Not in December.

Safeway has some pretty good hothouse tomatoes right now.

As PPs say:

Really lightly toast some bread (no color, just a little firmness).

Slather one size in mayo. I like Kraft or Helmans.

A few slices of thick tomato, salted and peppered.

A few slices of bacon.

A few leaves of lettuce, spring mix, whatever is lettuce-y. Arugula works too.

Awesome with a big dill pickle and tomato soup!
