Sourdough or wheat bread - lightly toasted
Crispy bacon - wegmans Apple wood smoked ( no nitrate) Bibb / butter lettuce Ripe tomato ( fresh from the garden is best ) Dukes mayo ( only dukes ) Salt / pepper Total heaven !!! |
|
I guess I'm the only raw tomato hater in the area. Blech.
I'll happily eat a nice club sandwich, though. |

Keep the ranch handy
Dip the sandwich in good ranch Drink the good ranch, too -Flip Driscoll |

I didn't read this whole thread, but am I the only one that substitutes cheese for the tomato? Yes, altering the classic BLT big time, but in my house it's the ever healthy combo of bacon, mayo and american cheese.
On wheat bread of course...need to stay regular. |
| ^ Lettuce too, I put lettuce in it. |
I'm with you. Raw, wet tomatoes fouling up my toasty bread and crispy bacon? Be gone, evil fruit posing as a vegetable. Tomatoes belong in salads and salsas, not on sandwiches. |
Are you from flyover country? |
First, American cheese isn't actially cheese - is cheesefood, a step above whiz. Second, yuck. |
Unless it's homemade mayo! |
Read the labels. There is american cheese, which is cheese, and cheesefood, which is not. There is a difference. |
You are wrong. American cheese is a processed product and cannot be sold as "cheese" I think this wikipedia entry is correct. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_cheese I think the classic Kraft single is less than 50% milk or cheese product. Yuck. |
| Nope. It's processed, yes. But some of it is cheese and sone of it isn't. Depends on how much of it is actual cheese vs emulsifiers, etc. Look up boars head as an example. |

Dec"ember BLT is better than NO BLT! "
++ You BLT snobs are cracking me up. It's almost impossible to make anything bad with baaaaaaacon

I don't like mayo either so we use avacado
Try putting some shrimp on too and it tastes great next to the salty bacon. I only like really crunchy tomatoes. I with the people who don't like mushy tomatoes. Also, I prefer toasted wheat toast with the blt and iceburg has great crunch. |
| Add avocado. Takes it to a whole other dimension. |
