Kate went to the same school as the future king of England. She wasn’t middle class.

Her parents are. She was raised in a middle class family.

Wasn't his mother a Kindergarten teacher?

Yes, for a while it was a big deal that William married a commoner. Now no one cares.

From what I understand, very early on Kate Middleton was totally freaked out by the poise and confidence of MM. If you remember, before MM came on the scene, KM did not smile in photos, she stood, stiffly, lightly holding her hands together in front of her. After MM she started waving, smiling directly at cameras - she learned a lot from her, very quickly and applied it.

There is a TV production company who have been making a documentary and have had royal access. They were keen to let slip that KM was freaking about MM. However no one really picked up on this despite picking up on a "rivalry" or rift between the two women and citing the example that KM told MM not to chastise HER staff.

KM is a middle class daughter of an airline stewardess and a party planner dad. She has a steady but very boring background. She is not sophisticated and she is not intellectual. She is essentially a typical, small-minded British girl (I'm British I know what I'm talking about) and her peevishness would perhaps if directed to a girl with less independence and self-confidence, have been a way to make KM feel superior. However MM clearly takes no sh*te from anyone, as she shouldn't and KM's approach backfired.

Hence the rift.

It's obvious that they didn't click, but no one expected that they would. Honestly, I like my SILs but we're not friends either.

It sounds like you're trying to blame last weeks events on Kate. That's laughable. Harry and Meghan just didn't care about her, one way or the other. She didn't drive them away.

Sorry but the British press were pushing them as the next BFFs - saying Kate was 'guiding' Meghan and that the Fab Four would be amazing. Didn't work out because Kate has zero friends outside of her sister and even that is questionable and is more focused on keeping William happy anyway she can (and driving away any female friendships he's had since the beginning of their relationship),

I recall reading that she didn't even like Harry's last girlfriends - even though they were in the same 'position' at the time as waiting around.

She's certainly got her hands full in this season of her life. Maybe the time to put an emphasis on the number of friends she has has passed. Her focus on her family and whatever her official royal duties are. Most of us focus mainly on our families once we start having kids.

I don't think she ever developed those friendships in the first place, more than a decade before getting married and having kids. She started dating Will and her whole world revolved around him, she didn't have a typical college or post-grad experience which is a time a lot of those deep friendships develop, at least in my world. I think she focused on ingratiating herself with William's set, which she did to an extent, but was mostly just tolerated. It's kind of sad.

LOL, sure, the beautiful woman who married the future king of england's life is ... kind of sad.

LOL I guess if that makes you feel better.

Hypocrite poster: Kate is haggard, old, Waity Katie, has no friends, a doormat, her husband cheats on her, too skinny, ugly, dresses like an old woman, Wisteria Sisters, on and on.

ALSO

Hypocrite poster: How dare you call Meghan a gold digger!!!!111!! You're a racist! You hate black women! You keep her name outta your mouth! You are sooooo jealous. You hater!

It's just comical at this point. Criticizing Meghan is almost getting fun at this point to see her lose her tiny little mind over it.

You do realize a lot of people are on this thread, right?

DP. Off topic. Actually studies have shown that the happiest people are ones with rich friendships. In contrast over approx mid six figures people aren’t meaningfully happier.

Her father’s ancestors had aristocratic ties.

Most write-ups of Kate say she was raised upper middle class, noting her parents’ commercial success and her father’s ancestral ties to aristocracy. She was well educated at fancy schools, and she traveled internationally including a gap year abroad. She wasn’t some dumb, small minded kiddie class girl (as another poster claims).

Obviously there are trade offs in life. Being married to the future king of england is one of them. You can't be in the royal family and be a normal person at the same time.

Fancy boarding schools simply aren’t middle class. She lived in a very expensive apartment her parents bought for her after graduation (something like 1.5M pounds).

People living in Germantown are middle class; people living in McLean aren’t.
