I will admit that Bullis has increased its athletic programs and it has also created interest in the school. I submit that the academic program must be "good enough" to have students accepted into the following schools. (According to another thread on DCUM.) Though Bullis may not be on the level of St Albans, the academic program is worth a look. This IS NOT the Bullis of the 1980's and 90's.
Below is from Bullis Curriculmn night thread So many untrue statements made by uninformed posters. Faculty turnover is low, academics are strong but also geared for your child. Bullis seniors have been accepted to the following schools Brown Columbia Cornell Dartmouth Duke Northwestern Notre Dame US Naval Academy Virginia Yale A Bullis education can get you into an excellent college. |

When you start from such a low relative level, percentage improvement is easy. |
That's a better list than SSSA or Episcopal. |
Apparently it can also get you into: College of Charleston Coppin State Elon Frostburg State Florida Southern High Point Jackson State Jacksonville Roanoke |
Its 85% of the athletes on this list and when you sprinkle in the Chinese boarding kids living with host families, you will discover this list is very deceiving to the general public. From, a Former Bullis Parent who pulled their kids |
It all boils down to the kid applying, not the school he attended. There is some but not much help to get into an Ivy for sports..btw the bottom half of all the IAC schools have underwhelming college matriculation, it is tough to get into a top tier school in this era, especially if you are from a large metro |
What a joke. As they all say "Bulis is still Bullis" and it doesn't have the STUDENTS to be a top school. Bullis gets the dumb athletes and rejects from the rest of the IAC. |
I guess what I find so objectionable from the Bullis defenders is the spin to people who know what the deal really is. |
Hmmm..current commits to Penn, Dartmouth and Navy Joe Stein (Bullis ‘17) All Academic ACC player this year as Duke freshman Your story does not match today’s reality You are living in a cave |
Yeah but Prep is losing one of these "strong" kids. He flunked out but they let him stay to play out the year. Ethical ...? |
Yeah but Prep is losing one of these "strong" kids. He flunked out but they let him stay to play out the year. Nice ethics. |
How does one flunk out before the end of the year? |
Are the Bullis kidsvredshirted like prep and Landon. Are kids competeing with much older kids for a position on the team? |
Four illegal sticks in a 25 minute half is a pattern rather than an anomaly. Not to mention their illegal stick in the Stone Ridge game last Saturday. Shame on the Visitation coaches for permitting this to happen, as it does smack of cheating. Additionally, the coaches should have stepped in before letting their players take pictures of themselves showcasing their four illegal sticks after the game. Very poor form all around. Unfortunately, as per the Washington Post article dated 5/16/18, this illegal stick matter does taint their big win just a tad... (By the way, it was indeed four, not three illegal sticks which was incorrectly stated in the Post article.) Has this been going on all season? |
