It's being done in many but this particular thread was about Wood MS. Another place to be aware of is Ashburton Elementary. The principal is super woke. They are teaching 10 yr old white kids that they are oppressors and 10 year old kids of color that they are oppressed. It's really sickening. These kids are going to need a lot of therapy to deal with this insanity.

+100. This isn't helping racial relations and creating a bigger divide. 10 year olds shouldn't be taught they are racist and oppressors when most aren't nor have had the life experiences to understand what is even being discussed.

It's helping progressives feel morally superior thought white saviorism though, so at least there's that.

We are counteracting MCPS's indoctrination attempts. I just feel sorry for the families who aren't aware of what's going on. Their kids will turn out to be woke lunatics and the parents won't have any idea why.

And racists beget racists. Go figure.

Then I hope you change your racist thinking and ways before you poison your kids' minds with critical race theory. Not only is it bad for society but it will cause your kids mental health issues. I know you wokes love having mental health problems (leave no victimhood status unturned) but it's a terrible trend.

You have some issues you really need to work out. I feel so sorry for your kids. Hopefully they turn out MUCH better than you.

What do you mean? I'm fighting against racism.

White people cannot be the victims of racism. THEY ARE NOT MARGINALIZED. How hard is this for you to understand? They can experience prejudice, but you're 100% not doing anything to fight against actual racism. Stop being ignorant and educate yourself.

I reject your woke bastardization of the word" racism." If I change the definition of the word "gravity" I can alter physics also. See? It's just woke word games.

Wood MS

The kids just finished reading Stamped by Kendi. And spent a lesson learning about the principles of BLM.

Both took place during HERD/Advisory period. Which is supposed to be meant for extra academic help and/or for community building exercises.

I'm actually impressed they gave the kids books in MS. We have yet to have any books. Who paid for them?

Yes, white people can be victims of racism and discrimination. You are racist for not understanding that and part of the problem vs. solution.

I am wondering if this is school-specific or MCPS-wide. Just looking to get more info before I approach the principal with my questions/concerns.

MCPS is going all in on CRT (critical race theory) which is extremely racist. They probably won't call it that though. Instead look for SEL (social emotional learning) and culturally responsive curriculum. And it's being done during the 8th period connect time.

CRT is not "extremely racist." The only one who is racist is someone who would object to it by characterizing it as ""extremely racist."

Do you actually have a white robe and hood in your closet?

Of course it is. It starts with the premise that the post important characteristic about someone is their race.

Explain how that is racist. I realize well-intentioned white people have been taught not to see color and so we do this awkward thing of "do you see that lady with the purple blouse and the long hair and the sunglasses" instead of "hey, do you see the black lady over there?" But the very act of deciding "not seeing color" is not racist is, in fact, a manifestation of white privilege. People of color WANT you to see their color. They don't want you to pretend like race isn't a thing. It's about APPRECIATING DIFFERENCES, not ignoring them. But white people stamping their feet and demanding that we are somehow in a post-racial colorblind society and so all the darkies should just get with that program ... is racist.

I'm a POC and I understand your explanation of this, but I resent being defined by my race first (and having my actions/life circumstances seen through the lens of my race). I actually do find that to be racist. This is just to illustrate that not all POC feel the way you describe - it's condescending to assume they do.

So let me get this straight. In a school district where a huge percent of kids are not reading on grade level and where the math curriculum was reduced by 40%, they decided that 1/8 of the school we could be spent on racist indoctrination? Horrible. Everyone involved with this should be fired.

Careful. You're going to blow the wokes minds. They don't view you as an individual or even as human. It's disgusting but true.

Agree, but I'm still impressed the spent the money to buy books. We haven't seen a book all year.

No the pp, but god you're an idiot. The definition of racism has evolved as time goes on. 99.9% know this by now. It's the few uneducated morons like yourself who still are living in the past.

ADL's definition of racism:

Racism: The marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges white people.

NAACP:
Racism is connected to, but distinct from, terms such as prejudice, bias and bigotry. Anyone can be prejudiced, biased or bigoted, but only White people can be racist, since they are the ones who are more advantaged in society. An alternate way of framing this idea is that racism is a system that only benefits White people.

Again, EDUCATE. YOURSELF.

The idea of “reverse racism” has no meaning in a system where one group is systematically bestowed with the most advantages. What you are referring to is discrimination. There is a difference. Time to crack open a book.
