I understand your frustration but I have spoken with teachers and for many of them it was a hard decision. They themselves are high risk or have family members who are high risk. These teachers are heroes during a normal school year but they are not given hazard pay. Unlike the Navy, they did not sign up knowing there was a possibility they would die.

Again, I understand your position and I feel for you. We are fortunate that remote learning works for our family. But please show the teachers some grace.

So what you’re saying is that we won’t actually be going back on campus in October. If their situations don’t allow them to come on campus now, how would that change in October?

Exactly

Both things can be true. The teachers can refuse to go to work and abandon their students and have it still be a hard decision. The burgundy teachers have shown their true colors. Heroes they are not. Lesson learned.

The possibility of death thing is so dumb and overblown. Most people just get allergy symptoms and recover.

Why has no one explained EXACTLY what’s happening on October 1st to suddenly make teachers okay with 5 days week in person school at Burgundy? Are teachers on board to start school in person in 3 weeks? That is definitely the impression the administration is giving, and if it isn’t likely to happen they need to backtrack or they are seriously going to lose 50%+ of enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year. We will be out the door along with most families we know.

It’s a total farce. No one has explained it because they can’t. They had to stall for time once teachers refused to work. As the “give teachers some grace” poster pointed out, teachers made a “hard decision” because they are “high risk.” If they are high risk now they will still be high risk in October. Not a thing will change and the admin will keep kicking the can and stringing families along for the rest of the year because that’s how they will ensure tuition payments keep coming in. Mark my words. They are lying to us.

Oh, that completely make sense! I am so glad this risk will be gone in 3 weeks. What a relief they will all be ready to be on campus teaching 5 days a week on October 1st!

It’s not so much the “deception” of just this year it’s more that they built their whole identity on being this school that embraces nature and outdoor learning and when push came to show they decided against doing it. It will be a hurdle for sure and will definitely have some potential parents who will be less sold on the school now that it’s clear that doesn’t hold up.
