What is the earliest age you would buy condoms for your son?

No, you have no way to know if they’re already having sex. Get a grip, people.

Dating for a year? Come on now lol. The most teens wait is about 3 months

Maybe in your trashy circles, but not everyone is like you.

Zombie thread.

This conversation has quite obviously moved beyond the OP (and as it was a general question was never really specifically about OP’s own son). What do you think you’re accomplishing by pointing out that this thread was started years ago? This fact has already been pointed out MANY TIMES, and it is completely irrelevant to the topic. Would it make you feel better if someone started a new thread and then the exact same conversation ensued?

Is the idea that the condom gets stuck on a tampon and attaches itself to incoming traffic? Or, what?

I finally noticed the date on the OP and I realized that this was 3 weeks before everything shutdown for Covid.

I would love to know how OP's Romeo and Juliet fared.

Did they still meet up further fueling OP's worries or were they separated by the "winds of fate."

Nah, I don't know any high schoolers dating over a year and not humping.

Right, because YOU only know the high schoolers in YOUR trashy (and illiterate) circle…

Yes. He's 14. GF is 15.

OMG.

Stop clutching your pearls. I was having sex at 14/15 (after a year of dating) and I found a way to buy condoms or my BF did.

The “pearl clutching” catchphrase is so lame
You were also a slut.

Wait what?!? Sex at 14/15 after a year of dating makes one a slut? Has there been a definition change that I was unaware of?

That does sound risqué of a 14 yo. I would think slut and most would even though you pretend you wouldn’t.

The word slut has meaning - it’s not just sexual behaviors you don’t approve of. It means a woman who has many sexual partners. Not someone who loses their virginity at age 15.

She said 14/15. Slut can mean the way pp used it. Presumable if one is having sex at that age, they will have many partners.

Presumably? Calling a girl who loses it at 14 a slut because you assume they will go on to have many casual partners? Delightful.
And what exactly is wrong with many casual sex partners, may I ask?

Only a slut would ask what is wrong with many casual partners.

You’re right. Married to the only man I ever had sex with. First time at 24. You got me!

I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Where can we meet?

Of course you would say that. There couldn’t POSSIBLY be someone out there with an experience that doesn’t line up with your world view.

If you think crying “liar” when someone is sharing their personal experience is an effective way to have a conversation (especially when there is zero reason for that person to lie), I’m not sure there’s much more productive conversation to be had here.

If you think that I or anyone else would take advice from someone who thinks 14 years old having sex is just fine, you need to get examined.

If you could point out exactly here I said “a 14 year old having sex is just fine”, I’d be much obliged.

Jk. You can’t. Never said it. But don’t let that stop your amazing hyperbole and ability to glean exactly what you want (and not what was said) from the information given.

You failed lessons in inferential reading, didn’t you? You only understand literal meaning and not what’s implied or doesn’t need to be stated to be understood.
When someone says their fridge is running, you think it has feet and moving quickly.

Your inference is incorrect. You are making things up to bolster your argument. If I thought sex at 14 was ok, I would have said it. Unless you can point out exactly what I said that led you to infer that. I’d be open to discussing that.

NP. I read up the thread and agree that your comments imply that you have no issue with 14 years old having sex and you condoned promiscuous behavior.

There are many comments that say they do not think kids should have early sex but if they do, they should have access to condoms. Only you think that's contradictory or condoning.

There are many comments saying it’s okay and one lady said her husband has sex at 13 and he is a productive citizen.

Does that post say that it’s ok to have sex at 13? Or just that he turned out ok despite it?

Are you stupid?

Can you answer the question?

I can answer the question. The answer is yes, you are stupid.

Aren’t you clever!

Juliet took the vaccine. She had an adverse reaction. Romeo thought she died, and in his gried he took his mask off, caught Covid and died.
Juliet recovered but when she saw Romeo, she kissed him and inhaled the virus on purpose. She died.

This thread brings up a pertinent issue in 2024, even if it was started some time ago.

Do you really think teens who lose their virginity won’t be productive citizens. Jesus you moms are so freaking weird. I remember in the late 80’s hearing about circle jerks, spin the bottle and 7 minutes in heaven. This was happening in 7/8th grade. Most kids were losing or aiming to lose their virginity by early high school. And I definitely don’t remember any parents overly involved in forcing their kids to not socialize and stay virgins.

And look at every single teen movie. Sex and more sex.

You holier than thou parents thinking you can force your teen with their own mind and lots of peer pressure to be virgins until 20 is laughable.

And where are the stats and articles that teen sex is ruining them? Cute the sources.

Because honestly, we didn’t have a ton of depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues like this current generation has. Helicoptering, tracking, forcing a ton of school/activities, college resume building, giving them 24/7 internet access, encouraging them to stay home on weekends, not foster autonomy and shaming our kids for mistakes is so much worse. Drop out college rates are sky high. Suicide rates sky high.

The snowplowing and over involvement is disgusting and demeaning.

You just have no morals.

I agree the other issues you mention are issues, but are parents actually encouaring kids to stay home on weekends? and if so, is this a problem beacuse...?

I am laughing that the OP thinks her son is not already having sex. He is. You missed the mark. Get condoms ASAP and pray his girlfriend is on the pill. Who waits a year?

I definitely come down on the “better safe than sorry” side, meaning: you really don’t want to deal with your daughter’s unwanted pregnancy. Or a teen with a lifelong STI.

So I would and do provide condoms.

Spring break is next week. Have you made a decision and prep for your teen’s vacation ?

My 13-year-old knows where our condoms are because we've had a very frank discussion and have showed him how they work... So I guess if he needed one he technically could get one anytime. But I would probably offer to get him some if he had brought up the conversation to me or if I felt that's where he was heading due to the length or intensity of a relationship
