Van Hollen in El Salvador

That’s not what happened. The Republicans had arranged prior notice to tour the prison. Van Hollen was offered that too if he gave more notice but he declined.

"I asked the vice-president if I could meet with Mr Ábrego García. And he said, well, you need to make earlier provisions to go visit Cecot," Van Hollen said at a press conference. "I said, I'm not interested at this moment in taking a tour of Cecot, I just want to meet with Mr Ábrego García. He said he was not able to make that happen," Van Hollen added. - Newsweek

C'mon now. Are you that naive? You think that if Bukele had told the prison authorities to meet with him that they wouldn't drop their "prior notice" rule and accommodate Van Hollen? Bukele is in Trump's pocket and will do what Trump tells him to do.

I live in MD and voted for him but dont know much about him or is career.

I feel like we have all been saying "do something democrats" and for the first time in a while I feel a little bit of hope seeing someone fight back. That and Harvard.
.

I believe CVH is genuine and not just grandstanding. He and his office have helped us several times with different problems and we are non important, non citizen but legal residents in Md.

I believe that he and his staff genuinely care about their constituents.

How many posters want to bet the person defending Kilmar Abrego Garcia is an MS13 gang member?

At this point, good question.

1. MS13 gang member. Police paperwork details MS13 gang member indicators on his person.
2. Verified habitual wife beater with restraining order against him.
3. Verified illegal alien denied amnesty.
4. Picked up with $1,000+ cash in his pocket and packets of drugs thrown on the ground as cop approached.
5. On an FBI terrorist watch list.
6. Verified picked up by police in TN, suspected of human trafficking the people in the vehicle he was driving.

Number three - he applied and was rejected for asylum in 2019 but this was denied because he waited too long to apply after entry

Exactly. Beating his wife is horrific. Killing another woman the way he did, is beyond comprehension. Amazing who Democrats like to defend.

I don't doubt the evidence suggesting this guy is POS criminal. The only people defending his character are very unlikely to be aware of his documented history of being a bad guy. Most people defending him are doing so out of regard for legal due process. When due process is neglected for an individual case, a can of future legal worms is opened.

I’ll take a bet that the persons defending Trump are members of the mob or trying to be.

Yet for weeks said evidence has not been available to be presented in a logical manner to a court of law. To the point that even 9 Supremes said return him to the U.S. Because DOJ attorneys usually show up to court and admit to errors?

Anonymous wrote:Can someone explain to me what power does a US senator has to go to the foreign country and demand that that country release their own citizen???? Based on what? Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador and El Salvador made decision not to release him. How is it legal for the foreign government to exercise any power over the citizens of El Salvador in El Salvador?

Because ES is only keeping him locked up bc the US is paying them to do so. If we stopped giving our money to ES he’d be released.

A foreign country can choose who they incarcerate based on their own rules. What power does US have to tell them what to do with their own citizens?

We keep telling you—the US IS dictating what happens to this guy. The US is paying to keep him in prison.

Just because it was reported in us media, does not make those true.

Anonymous wrote:The crazy thing is how many people are just BUYING he was in a gang. There’s no proof or record of this. He went before immigration court and provided compelling documentation and testimony that was found internally and externally consistent and credible that he was *not gang affiliated* but the Trump admin literally just says he was- just says it!- and suddenly people think it’s ok for someone with legal status to be shipped to a foreign prison. You think you’re safe because YOU have never been in a gang? This is the whole point: if Trump gets away with this, you don’t ever have to done anything wrong in your whole life for him to just SAY you did and off you go to foreign prison. You don’t HAVE to have a criminal record or any charges- they’ll just say you did and that’s now good enough. It’s unreal people can’t see how dangerous that is to allow.

Share the link to compelling documentation and testimony, por favor.

No, go find it yourself. It’s easy to do if you actually care anything about the situation.

I tried, but nothing is found. Can you share them since you assured that the documents were compelling, you must have seen them. Thank you.

Nothing? Was not posted in this very thread already? How hard did you look?

https://www.justice.gov/ag/media/1396906/dl?inline

Did you even look at that link? There is no transcript of his testimony there, and yet you insist that he provided a compelling testimony. Where is the transcript?

So, if any foreign official, let say Iranian or Russian president, shows up in IS prison and demand to release a IS citizen held in US prison, do we have to comply with that? Under what authority our senator demands the release of Salvadorian from ES prison?

Because they weren’t denied due process by the US Govt. I think this guy probably isn’t quite the angel the left is painting him to be but everyone should be concerned about the lack of due process.

The complicating factor is that he is an El Salvadoran citizen so he’s under their jurisdiction.

He wasn't denied due process. He already had been judged as someone who can be deported. Maybe they made a mistake of sending him to El Salvador(now being disputed).

I can't take the lies anymore.

He has not been accused of a crime. He has not been convicted of a crime.

Trump didn't just send him to the one country he was not allowed to send him to. He also sent him to a maximum security prison without due process. For what crime?????????

And what crimes have the Venezuelans, who came legally and were awaiting asylum hearings, committed??? They were also sent to a concentration camp without due process.

You can’t just walk into a top security prison with last minute notice. The Republicans gave notice and got access to the prison (not prisoner). They said he could access the prison too with advance notice but he says he doesn’t want to tour it like they did. He wants to see the prisoner.

Apples and oranges.
