Tysons Corner Casino -- Foregone Conclusion Now?

In reality, casinos have a lot of problems and were designed to lift up depressed areas, the trade off was crime and increased costs for that area. That may have been a good trade off if they area wasn’t doing well, but Tysons? You can show me any study you want, in 5-10 years this casino will be very problematic for not only Tysons but NoVa. But then the developers and unions are happy because they got their money. Now NoVa will be stuck with the problem. For anyone dependent on the financial spoils that the casino will bring in, you are wrong. Just watch and see how Richmond will give nova less money out of the total pot and we will have higher expenses to support this casino for the benefit of said Marylanders. For anyone supporting this bill they either need to take their blinders off or ask comstock to up their money to buy you off. It’s going to ruin a lot of people who support it.

It’s going to tank the political careers of local Democrats who claim to oppose the casino if Spanberger doesn’t veto the bill. It will also reduce the willingness of people to vote in favor of the redistricting amendment. It’s stunning that the Democrats do not realize the wound they are inflicting on themselves right now.

Spanberger needs to veto this quickly before it hijacks the redistricting effort. The longer the casino is out there the more it hurts her bigger efforts.

Prediction: Spanberger will not veto or sign the legislation.

You are probably right but people will still see her as signing it if she does nothing. All the folks against it are collecting receipts.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. -Rush

Comstock heavily funded her campaign.

It needs to compete with the MGM across the water. Does that help?

Did you ask about the casino?

He, Dave Marsden, was invited to inform his constituents of what issues were coming up. Again, this was in the past when the average person hadn't heard of the issue. He said nothing. What a piece of crap

Yes. We stayed at MGM once because we wanted to go to restaurants there. They were meh.

I don't understand why people are so prudish on gambling. Sure, it's not my thing, but why push people to Maryland, when we can capture that business in Virginia? Same goes for legal Marijuana sales. It's safer if buyers score their weed in Virginia versus spending more time on the road driving to Maryland to get their high.

Do you live near the proposed casino? Or do you live miles away so you can safely support it without having any of the concomitant negatives (crime, traffic, etc)? Spare us all.

Surovell has found a way for Fairfax County to find its schools. He has your best interests at heart. Once we have a casino, the state legislature can cut off all school funding.
