It’s emblematic of something bigger…including things like an outright dismissal of legitimate concerns coupled with an elitist judgment of their lack of education.

I mean, we just lost…to a really unqualified and dangerous person…and the knee jerk reaction is that more than half the country is stupid and we are smarter…really? If we were smarter, we would have won. We would have had better messaging that acknowledged all the concerns raised by voters over the last few years.

yep. The "the other side is stupid" thing is really key here.

I was called "STUPID" by another poster on this site last night for questioning abortion. The poster could have said, "oh, yes, abortion is a complex issue." Instead they said "you are incredibly STUPID to believe that." It made me bristle, i could feel my blood pressure rise just reading it. Had I been in the ballot box at that moment I may have said a giant "f-you" to the left based on that one comment.

It feels horrible to be called stupid or to be implied to be stupid. It makes people angry.

Until elite democrats learn this they will never get the votes outside of their own ranks.

It’s worth noting that the Democrats’ leadership class and its loyalists dismiss their own obvious potential voters in this manner. Young people, minorities, the economically disadvantaged and those who oppose genocide were all treated with hostility by all the Democratic candidates in recent decades.

Democrat here. This was it for me. She’s not authentic at all, she didn’t stand for anything. Her entire campaign was a script, same answers for everything. And would get super nervous when she got any pushback from an interview. I can’t explain it, but she didn’t feel like a real person or someone I could relate with.

At least I could relate to grandpa Joe and him being a nice decent family man, who’s kids had issues, like your average American family.

Kamala’s entire existence just felt too…phony. It also didn’t help her bragging about aligning with the Cheney’s, of all people. What were they thinking?!

Biden/Harris finally got a bipartisan plan and Trump told Republicana not to vote for it so he could win. Now he’ll take credit for it if it passes. If I were a democrat I would now not vote for it.

That bill won’t pass. A much more enforcement-focused bill will.

The House bill had a lot of problems. And it didn't even mention fentanyl smuggling. But I guess that warped bill is what we're gonna get now.

And will he keep his promise of "mass deportations" meaning 15 million, which will destroy many American businesses and drive costs up significantly?

Funny how every time I bring up the consequences of his proposals, no Republican ever responds.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face is part of how our politics got so broken. "The other side are jerks, so I'll be more of a jerk" might make a party or person win next election, but the country as a whole will keep on losing.

Didn’t seem to mind it when the republicans play dirty. So if that’s what the country is voting for then democrats should do the same.

As if Trump is "authentic?" The guy has been a con man and a grifter his whole life.

I can’t imagine any sane parent of daughters thinking Trump is the better option here. Explain it to me like I’m 5.

I’m a Dem who detests Trump but understands why he won.

It’s everything. A lot of issues and aggravating sound bites from the Left on myriad things. It isn’t just transpeople in the locker room, so don’t fixate on that reason.

Like another poster said, this is really an indictment of the far left that somehow took up way too much time and space in Dem politics. We need Dems to have a Sister Souljah moment and call out the crazy.

I would agree that the Dems didn't need to acquiesce so much to the loud obnoxious vocal minority of wacky progressives in their midst. But by the same token I am quite angry that the entire country is now going to be collectively punished by the administration of a hateful senile guy with horrible policies and a gutless GOP that will go along with it.

Where are you in all of this?

Did you call out when the left went off the rails? I did. I posted Bill Maher links in this forum and was called a Maga. I’m not. Far from it. But I saw the writing on the wall and how our messaging was alienating people.

And I’m not going to curl up in a fetal position for the next 4 years. My day job is in the SJW field (law and policy). My spare time will be invested in supporting the next generation of Dems—starting at the local level.

Be the change, people.

See something, say something…then do something.

I’ve also posted clips from Bill Maher and was told the same thing. He has talked about how crazy the liberals have become when it comes to certain issues. Maher is an old school Democrat frustrated with the direction of his party.

Nah. Republicans made it look like it took up too much time and space.

Harris was anything but far-left. More like moderate to conservative by any objective standard. I don't think ideology was even that important to her.

Because conservatives are know for supporting taxpayers money being used to pay for transgender surgeries for prisioners.

Almost half the country lacks a moral compass.

Not sure it’s more than that

All politicians give the same script and never answer a question. And her answers were better than ‘I have a concept’. 4 years in the WH and 4 years to come up with a plan and he still has no idea what he’s going to do except protect the billionaires of this country.

Explain to me exactly how Trump is going to help young people with things like better wages, the cost of college, being able to afford a home. Same for minorities and the economically disadvantaged? And how is he going to help Gaza? He's going to give Netanyahu a green flag to do whatever he wants. Along with Ukraine being destroyed.

Explain this to me.

only 65% of us workers have college degrees.

the policies pushed by democrats are focused on the 35% and they have contempt for the working class.

1 - overwhelming immigration - legal and illegal -> lowers wages for US workers. good for elites and companies, bad for people
2 - inflation -> it hurt the 65% worse than the 35% who view it as bad but not a big deal.
3 - DEI and Trans -> anyone that has had to interact with DEI nonsense at large corporation knows this is a waste of money and time, do we really want gov paying for sex change operations
4 - H1XXB and OXXPT -> job outsourcing programs that Democrats expanded, really, the same party that claims they help US workers
5 - Harris -> poor candidate, just had nothing to offer.

I believe Trump’s success is largely due to his ability to diversify the party in a way previous Republican leaders, like Reagan and the Bushes, could not. This election saw unprecedented numbers of Hispanic, Black, and even Muslim voters supporting Republicans. Democrats should view this as a wake-up call not to take these groups for granted.

Not only has he diversified the party, but he’s also made it younger. In many ways, the Republican Party now feels like the energetic one, full of fresh ideas, while the Democratic Party often comes across as stuck in old patterns

You don't seem aware that the same policy was in place for the Trump administration. Look it up. It's a fact.

Didn’t you listen? He’s going to stop the wars even before he gets in the WH. 😂
