I loved her dress. In stage lighting it looked amazing.

I’m so tired of the mesh/sheer dresses - yes these women have bangin’ bods and I’m sure they work hard for them, but it looks so trashy. Please no more visible undergarments on the red carpet!

They camp out at hotels nearby with their teams.

More fun facts: those hotels have these "gifting suites" where celebs and/or their assistants can go and get free stuff from different brands -- skin care and fancy water and luxury robes and slippers to relax in while they get ready.

It used to be all about getting brows and facials done, and it's still a lot of that, but it's also about getting procedures done and timing them just right so that your skin isn't red or irritated day of.

I've also heard of celebs getting massages daily for two weeks before the event in order to keep their bodies relaxed and comfortable for posing and wearing all the clothes and shoes which can be uncomfortable. It's like athletes preparing for the Olympics -- daily workouts, strict diets, cosmetic procedures, a strict sleep schedule, etc. So much goes into it.

It would be interesting to follow a regimen like this, like whatever an Oscar nominee does for the month prior to the ceremony, on your own and see how much better you look. I bet you'd look amazing, regardless of how you look now. Like I bet you'd be shocked at how good you could look even without major weight loss or plastic surgery, just from doing nothing but optimizing your appearance every day for a month.

Stunning

I didn't really think it works. That big flower thing on the shoulder is just too much.

I like her hair but that's it. I might like that dress if it were just a little more substantial and structured. I have no trouble with sex appeal and showing skin on the red carpet (and this was for the after party, not the awards, so looser dress code) but this honestly looks like it's about to fall off her. It's like a tacky boudoir photo shoot outfit.

Also, while I do like the style of her hair, the color doesn't work with the colors of the dress. Going reddish and then wearing a lemon-lime outfits just feels like a big miss to me.

She also looks either high or drunk and given her history with alcohol, I wonder what's going on there.

I'm sick of people turning up to events in their underwear (or less) with a net curtain thrown over the top. Everyone said that Malala looked so good - and it was because she was wearing a beautiful gown.

So with Me Too, men are hyper sensitive about treatment of women, then some women turn up looking like the lead actor of The Emperors' New Clothes. How can you take someone seriously when they turn up to an important event in underwear or nothing? What is the limit on this - court? funerals? graduation? christenings?

I agree that the color looked MUCH better on stage than on the carpet. Still don’t like it.

Anonymous wrote:Now this I hate - Mindy Kaling in Vera Wang. I get she's excited about her body and wants to show it off -- no shade there, I get it. But the dress itself is hideous and her styling is very plasticky looking. She looks like a Bratz doll (sorry Mindy). I wish she'd gone super classic instead.

She changed into the same dress in black before presenting! So strange.

It's less tacky in black and her head styling makes a bit more sense in that palette. Also MUCH prefer her lip color in the black dress -- even with everything I hate about the dress, I think it's the weird purply burgundy lip color that I hate most about the red carpet look. It's not necessarily a bad color on her generally (it's too close to her skin tone but with a different color dress it could work okay), but it is the wrong color with a white dress. Her head is all dark/goth/dramatic and then it's this bright white dress. She looks like a vampire.

It's been a long time since I've hated a red carpet look this much.

I'm super late the this thread, but I liked Mindy Kaling's black version of the dress much better than the white. Agree the red lip is much better, and the waist of the black dress has a banding above the peplum that the white dress does not. Not sure why they're cut differently, but I prefer that detail in the black dress.

Aw. Sticking out that little stubby leg like the leggy girls.

She is a muscular gymnast. Try not to be a mean person.

But we know those are her breast feeding, postpartum breasts.
We also know she had surgery to remove implants prior to getting pregnant for the 4th time.

I think Malala's dress was the best there because it was designed with many restrictions in place, modesty, head cover, grace, innocence and had no help from layers of make up or dazzle of accessories.

Ralph Lauren designed it well and she wore it well. It was a real contrast to fitted sheet folders and underwear gowns.

There were some other lovely and sexy gowns but no designer stood out as outstanding. Too much black and white was boring. Bridal looks were odd as well.
