I like everything but the shoes.

They are a smidge stripper-y BUT I actually get it because I think the extra height with the slit is taking the whole thing next level. I think they would be better if they were a matte red a shade or two darker than the dress, or maybe if the straps were bejeweled to match her necklace/bracelet? But the platform plus meg-height is what is giving that killer leg line and I can't hate it.

I didn’t mind the way latform, just found them to match-match. I agree with you that a shade or two darker or some needling to break up the “matchy” would’ve been better.

Nicole Kidman and Halle Berry both with major leg slits as well. Love Nicole's dress (leg slit plus one sleeve plus huge floral appliqués but somehow it works?), Halle's is meh (weird floral detailing, too clingy and bare for my taste) but she, as always, looks amazing.

Also a lot of white which is frankly surprising given the "champagne" carpet and backdrop -- Michelle Yeoh, Mindy Kaling, Emily Blunt, Sofia Carson, Halle Barry. These will all look better "in the room" as they say, but it's the red carpet photo most people will see.

Except for Michelle -- I think her dress is going to look good on stage as a backdrop for an Oscar

But the dress itself is hideous and her styling is very plasticky looking. She looks like a Bratz doll (sorry Mindy). I wish she'd gone super classic instead.

Agreed - I'm so happy for her that she's happy with her body, but I hate how she's been dressing lately. I prefer her old look - the classical ballgowns were always beautiful on her.

Queen indeed.

This is, of course, very bad. But it's bad in a very specifically Florence Pugh way that maybe I've decided is fine? She loves overskirts with shorts and platform heels and weird necklines and she is weirdly consistent about it. I think I could come around on this if the colors weren't "black and dirty-sheets-beige".

If she just stuck with the dress pre-cutouts, if you could imagine, I could have been classically beautiful. But prob to gleaming white.

Awkward interview with Ashley Graham and Hugh Grant. He did not want to be there.

She looks amazing! But, why is she at the ceremony rather than the party, like others not invited to the actual awards show?
