Creating a thread for all things Oscar fashion and fashion ONLY. This is about the gowns, the gowns, the beautiful (or ugly) gowns. And the occasional tuxedo of note. |
Love this one (Monica Barbara in Elie Saab) and you can't see the gorgeous an unusual color combo well on TV:

Sofia Carson in Giambattista Valli. I would normally find this too bridal but the necklace is making it work for me. Also her face/hair is very Hollywood glam, not bridal. It works.

Fan Bingbing in Tony Ward Couture. I love how many people are going BIG ballgown. This is why I watch this $hit -- I want to sit on the couch in my sweatpants and look at people dressed to the absolute nines in total fantasy clothes.

Cara Delavigne in Valentino. The styling on this is *chef's kiss* P-E-R-F-E-C-T

I don't I don't much like the pale carpet and pale background combo. It's making people look a bit washed out. |
I like that it's providing a neutral backdrop for the gowns and that a lot of people are taking the opportunity to really have fun with color. |
Queen. (Angela Bassett in Moschino)

Cara Delavigne in Valentino. Wow! Stunning. |
I like everything but the shoes. |
They are a smidge stripper-y BUT I actually get it because I think the extra height with the slit is taking the whole thing next level. I think they would be better if they were a matte red a shade or two darker than the dress, or maybe if the straps were bejeweled to match her necklace/bracelet? But the platform plus meg-height is what is giving that killer leg line and I can't hate it. |
Now this I hate - Mindy Kaling in Vera Wang. I get she's excited about her body and wants to show it off -- no shade there, I get it. But the dress itself is hideous and her styling is very plasticky looking. She looks like a Bratz doll (sorry Mindy). I wish she'd gone super classic instead.

Lots of jewel tones and drama with the looks. |
