Utility poles aren’t exactly light weight. Often, the car stops after a Direct hit on the utility pole and cracks the pole in half.
The BMW literally sent the utility into the air After it hit a midsize SUV and after mowing down 3 teenagers. And the BMW kept going for half a block after all that. Simply amazing! |
| Is that area of Blake considered a “school zone”? |
No |
It wasn’t a direct head-on collision with the truck though. That impact wouldn’t have decreased the energy all that much and instead sent the BMW spinning. The girls were negligible mass compared to the car. The pole took the brunt of the energy. |
The truck? |
DP. Yeah, I agree -- the posts after posts after posts here trying to shove blame onto the Toyota driver, onto "fckd up VA law" etc. are nauseating. I don't even know that it's the BMW driver's friends or family though - I think someone just got hold of this thread and is now trolling us simply to get reactions and keep this idiocy going. All our posts pointing out realities like the curve in the road, the clearly excessive speed of the BMW (whether that speed turns out to be 60 or 100), the law that says right of way can be negated by speeding, etc. -- those won't stop this (or these) trolls from coming back to bait us here. They're evil and they're getting their jollies by posting like this about an incident that killed two people. Let's stop feeding the beast here and not respond to them any further. Cut off their oxygen. |
| Police were out again yesterday taking measurements to calculate the BMW’s speed. I was talking about this case with a friend who is a criminal defense attorney, and he suspects they found the driver was under the influence of some sort of drugs and are examining whether they have enough evidence of speed to charge him with aggravated involuntary manslaughter. |
Actually, offset collisions are way tougher than direct hits. The Toyota performed beautifully. Those amazing Japanese engineers. The BMW, not so much. |
Sounds like the BMW must have been going at a very high speed. We should all wait for the facts, though. |
Obviously pp is talking about the BMW driver. The Toyota driver is the one that had the good sense to stop for pedestrians. |
| Even if law had negated the right of way for Toyota, (1) Did the Toyota guy carry a radar gun to figure out the speed, and (2) once he realized that the BMW had lost right of way, he put himself in the way...? Why? To collect money after collision? |
This is some really batshit spin. |
| Stopping for walkers is law...so is following right of way... |
Sorry, other people are allowed to have opinions.
My opinion is that the PPs should stop making up random facts or pushing baseless assumptions as truths. |
But then pull out in front of another car so… |
