2023 Girls Recruiting

Most College coaches don’t have a bloody clue how to recruit. Rarely do even half their recruits make it all 4 years and the same teams see success while the others continue to fail year after year.

True. List of college coaches who don’t deserve their jobs is long. It’s crazy they don’t get fired.

I will answer simply- no.
They are a good team with a few studs but the parents are well organized and the girls have been marketed well.

College coaches beg to differ…. and isn’t that what it’s all about in the end anyway?

All of the girls go to academically & athletically -competitive schools so they are less of risk than other random girls. Are they all studs? Hardly.

Did anyone get the Boston College invite in their SportsRecruits box?

It looks like the "we only lost by 3 goals" Pride guy is back on DCUM.

The pride parent doesn’t get it. Again no one cares about wins or losses within club. Sure kids can brag about it but at the end of the day, no college coach will say “I’m not going to recruit this kid because there team lost today”. Lots of factors go into choosing a club and to each there own.

Sounds like the new Pride line to keep those checks coming in after their recruiting failures….

Not affiliated with Pride. This is a general comment. It has been reported that 1 on 3 college athletes will either quit or be asked to leave their teams before their 4 years is up. Don't know if this takes into account injuries. And don't know if this ratio holds true for womens lacrosse. The important thing for these players to consider is choosing a school they love above all else and can see themselves attending without sports. And making sure it's a good academic fit that aligns with their professional interests and academic level. Every year there are great high school players who burn out and opt not to play at that level. There may be players, maybe more so parents, who want to see their kids commit somewhere, but it would be foolish to think kids will not burn out in college. Playing D1 is a big time commitment that will not fit everyone's desired college experience. While the number may not be half as suggested by the PP the data seem to support a number of commits you may know from your club team may not make it all 4 years.

Look at any list of freshman players and compare it to list of seniors - never more than half make all 4 years. Even at the top lacrosse schools like UNC.

No question about it. Burn out is real. It's hard work, practice all the time, film study, running, lifting, practice... rinse, repeat. When a player sees the majority of his/her classmates, sleeping in, having fun, fraternities/sororities, easily balancing academics and other activities, one begins to wonder whether it's worth it?? When applied to a sport like Lacrosse where there is no future, it doesn't even make much sense?? The only exception is the kid that really loves to work and finds the plusses (friendships, being in shape, etc.) of playing greater than the minuses.

Too bad most college coaches are too stupid to figure out which kids those are.

Sometimes the kids don’t even know?? Playing in college seems like a great idea until your alarm goes off at 5AM and you have to drudge through a dark campus to lift “legs & back” for an hour.

Any club coach who really pays attention can tell you. Same with most hs coaches. You can tell if a kid is truly committed to their sport. It’s very very clear to those who pay attention.
