Ever heard of men who sit down to pee?

I hadn't until earlier this week. Are you a man or do you know a man who sits to pee?

My husband does. In other cultures, it is the done thing.

DH does it regularly. Not in public, but at home especially at night. He doesn't want to turn the bathroom light on and get himself or me any more woken up than necessary but doesn't want to aim poorly in the dark so he sits.

Interesting to me that in other threads this is mentioned as emasculating. My DH is tallish, 6'1' and he always sits. And, no, I wouldn't say he is particularly lazy. We have one DD but I now wonder if we had a son, if he would be a sitter too.

DH sits at night in the dark. He says it's easier to find the toilet without turning on the light and waking himself up more.

My dad sits down most of the time. I think he's considerate because it means he'll never leave the seat up!

FWIW I didn't realize that men could pee while sitting, but DH laughed at that. He says they pee all the time while sitting for #2, so I don't see what the big deal is.

My son, my husband and my father always sit down to pee.

I'm curious, OP, why you or anyone else think this is strange.

+1

And for the men who never sit, what do you do when you have to pee and poop? Or is it then 'acceptable' to sit to pee?

I wish my DH would do this.

I wish people would stop saying it's not masculine to sit while peeing. DH used to (not for laziness but to keep the bathroom from being covered in pee splatter) and now he's convinced it's not manly so the toilet seats are constantly up.

It's definitely strange but that has already been well covered in a previous thread on the General Parenting Board. I'm interested in getting a general feeling for how prevalent this practice us. Just curious. Not my intention to judge anyone.

My husband is always hard, even when he pees so sitting down isn't something that can be done with him.

It is perfectly acceptable for a man to execute the poop n pee.
