You're joking, right? Dems have had clear majorities in Congress several times for FIFTY f#####g years, and you say with straight face it's Republicans' fault? Someone has sold you a huge bridge. |
Thinking that judicial precedent and stare decisis would be respected. |
bs. even Ginsbug said so (with nicer words) |
So what other legislative priority should we have abandoned just to repeat a protection that was already decided as constitutional law by the supreme court? |
Thanks. Now I know you ARE joking. |
Not filibuster proof. Also, there was the lie those Republicans told about Roe being "settled law. " |
False. Plus, with Roe in place, Dems could have negotiated with some moderate Reps like McCain. Now there's no leverage. |
DP. With Roe in place, moderate Republicans had zero incentive to join abortion protecting legislation that would have alienated a significant portion of their base. |
McCain was vehemently pro-life. WTF are you talking about? |
We are going to see very soon just how many of the base are in which camp. Most women are under no illusions about the fundamental importance of having control over this decision for themselves and their daughters.....regardless if they use the right...they know that women must hold it. This will be very apparent come election day 2022. |
PP is a forced birther who is mad that the Democrats didn’t prevent them from showing how much they hate women. You see, it’s always up to the Democrats to be the adult in the room, no matter what kind of tantrum the GOP is throwing. Look at all the excuses they provide, look at how they pretend that they care what RBG thought. Look at all the silliness. |
How many "vehemently pro life" republican politicians are busy scrubbing all evidence of this position out of their history as much as possible? More than one. |
On the contrary, they would have an incentive to pass a law similar to those in Europe, for example making abortion legal and straightforward until 15 weeks, and hard afterwards. How do I know? Well, that's exactly what Republicans in Mississippi did, in the case that reached SCOTUS. |
+1 they never, ever, ever had any incentive to negotiate on this. and you might say that dems never did either - why would we pass a 15 week ban when we had roe in place, which gave us greater protections? |
