"In a classic case of not knowing one’s audience, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Tea Party leader and potential 2016 Presidential candidate, was soundly booed off stage while delivering a speech at an Arab Christian conference in Washington, D.C. Wednesday night." "However, he quickly switched gears and essentially lectured Arab Christians to accept and embrace Israel and that Christians and Jews in the region need to form an alliance....At that point, jeers started emanating from the crowd. Sensing the crowd was turning on him, Cruz claimed that those booing him were anti-Semitic." |

This is what happens when you live in a bubble.
He thinks that Palestine problem is about religion. It's not. |

Wow, what an amazing way to end a speech:
“I will say this. If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews, then I will not stand with you. Thank you and God bless you.” I'm amazed and appalled that someone would say that to a hostile audience -- unless he has no wish to engage with these people ever again, why would he say such strong language? |
Maybe that is what he means? Honesty? He's not my guy--but you can't fault honesty. |
| Yes, I think he did say what he meant. But if that was what he meant, then why was he speaking in front of that audience? If he couldn't address them in an effective, non-offensive manner, then why address them at all? |
One might fault him for refusing to stand with American citizens due to their stance regarding a foreign country. He could have agreed to disagree on foreign policy and looked to them for support on domestic social issues. |
The more people he alienates, the happier I am. |
+1. Sadly, there are a LOT of people who do not understand this. |
An aspiring president can't disown a group just because of their opinions on world affairs. |
You mean "shouldn't", not "can't". |
| Being tone-deaf is one thing. Being ignorant and aspiring to be president is quite another. And Mr. Cruz went to Princeton and wouldn't participate in a law school study group with members of "lesser" Ivies? The irony is delicious. |
Yup, and Arab Christians tend to swing Conservative. |
Yea, he is honest. I'll give him that. It is the underlying sentiment that the honesty resulted from that gives me pause. Gonna be interesting to see how the National GOP deals with this if his candidacy progresses. Can't run for national office and degrade and disown a group that normally skwes TOWARDS your party. |
| Cruz is not an American..he is Canadian. He does not understand this country. |
So when is it "honest" and when is it "divisive"? |
