You sound like a complete ass-hole!

Its high school sports, we are talking about 15 - 18-year-old girls for Christ Sake.

Sometimes the best team doesn't always win, that is what makes sports in general so exciting.

Yup. It IS high school girls sports and they are playing in the championship game in a high school lax tournament in a very competitive league. Many of the girls are already committed to play in college in some insanely competitive programs. This isn't little girl rec lax, Holton lady. These girls are tough and athletic warriors out there. If you think this criticism is harsh you are clueless. The great players out there, the ones who have proven themselves in game after game, practice after practice, lesson after lesson, rep after rep, the ones who play for legit clubs like Capital and M&D and Skywalkers, have had a million harsher things said them by their coaches, their parents and likely they say it to themselves. If you can't handle it, or your daughter can't, she shouldn't be out there because I guarantee you that all the girls on the Visi team CAN take it and the top players on the Hotlon team certainly can too.

Quit treating these girls like fragile little creatures. They aren't. They have earned the right to be treated like athletes competing at the top level of their sport. Treat them like it.

I agree, please cut back on the wine. Yes, they are warriors, and have worked hard to get to the championship, but they're still 15-18 yr old HS players as the PP notes. The support for both teams was positive and the crowd was having fun. SSSAS needs to stop looking for Holton to justify their loss and focus on States. BI will be ready.

I guess the Visi parents kept sipping from their very noticeable red solo cups even after the game was called. #classy

Urick is at Prep as long as he wants to be providing they are competitive. Not dominant, just competitive. The school pretty much signaled that when they passed on Giblin's most recent resignation.

Did Giblin resign. He is still listed as a coach and teacher at BO.

The "most recent" Giblin resignation talked about was his last one from Prep.

Giblin resigned a couple of times from Prep, but prior to the last one had been always talked out of resigning. It was all part of his ongoing effort to get the resources and consideration in Admissions that he felt he needed to have a Nationally ranked team.
He has both the coaching job and a teaching position at BO, so I doubt he'll be leaving that. Nor is it even in the realm of possibility that he would come back to Prep under any condition. Too many bridges burned on both sides.

To the people that actually matter, there is no problem with the current Prep lacrosse program.

As one wise old Prep administrator one told me, "Parents come and parents go."

This is a false statement. I know several prominent alums who are outraged at the state of the current lacrosse program, some of them have deep pockets too.

Not all of them are banging on the door to bring back Giblin but do feel change is needed on the current staff.

Well, we will have to disagree on who is "prominent" and who is "outraged" and who knows what they are talking about and who doesn't.

The good news is we will see who is right based on what actually occurs.

If Urick is replaced and the school goes about a high-energy search to find a replacement, you may be right.

If they don't, than I guess you are wrong or you misread your sources, didn't know who actually mattered or just made this up.

Even those who like Giblin the most recognize there is zero chance that would ever even be considered.

They don't need to prove anything. Fluke or not, they did what no other ISL team has done in a very long time.

Visi looked good, came out with a mission to win the championship after many years of near misses. Holton looked like they were just happy to be at the dance and overwhelmed by the newness of it all. No one is denying the fact that they are still very much the underdog, but whatever happens tomorrow doesn't take away from what they accomplished over the weekend.

I am one of those alums who respect Giblin and I am well aware GP would never bring him back.

With that being said, it is unacceptable the Lil Hoyas are now middle of the pack in the IAC. When was the last time GP lost to Landon in 4 straight seasons? and now Bullis? This does not tread lightly with several of the alums, past parents, former players that I know.

I'm not stating GP should be a NATIONAL powerhouse and go in the direction of those lame sports academies (Culver, Hill, IMG etc. etc.) but at the very least they should be more competitive with the best in the DC area.

Look if anyone "prominent" is not alarmed with the direction of the program at Prep, they are not looking after the best interests of the school and the current student athletes. This is not Sidwell Friends. Giblin is not the answer, but it is not Urick either. There are dozens of high school coaches in this region who are 'program builders' that would be superior to the current coach in energy, relationship building and instruction. Admit the mistake and cut your losses. Once you screw up a succession plan it takes years to recover....poor on field results> lack of interest from talented players who go to other programs (many in IAC/WCAC) > worse on field performance > repeat.

I am a fellow alum. And while I would like Prep to compete for the IAC title, what we have today is much stronger competition and much more parity. Plus, we lose players to GZA and SJC now because those schools also have credible programs.

Prep isn't going to emulate Bullis' strategy. They are using Athletic success in yet another attempt to repackage the school like they did when they brought Hibbs in from DeMatha to build a basketball program.

And since you spent four years there, Paro's position on this ought to be clear to you.

Besides, even if Urick were to leave or be fired, who is to say there would be an improvement.

Prep just needs to sit back and relax with the understanding that it will not be the prominant power in the IAC for athletics. Landon, Bullis, EPS and even St. Albans have all stepped up their games in football and lacrosse. Prep had a great year in hoops but you only need to have a couple really outstanding recruits to do this. This doesn’t work in football and lacrosse. And GZ is now preferred by many families who would have sent their sons to Prep in the past.

My salad days,
When I was green in judgment: cold in blood,
To say as I said then! But, come, away;
Get me ink and paper:
Holton shall have every day a several greeting,
Or I'll unpeople Egypt.
