Biden's VP?

Warren for Treasury or— hear me out— Education. Education in the era of COVID, universities folding, distance learning, student loan debt crisis is a massive job and she has the qualifications.

What has she ever run?

I know it feels like this is taking forever (I thought so too) but this is totally normal. Obama and Clinton each announced their running mates only 2-3 days before the first day of the convention.

Yes, but their prospects were not trashed in the press the way the women have been. And remember the convention was pushed back almost a month already.

Heh? The 2008 Democratic Convention started August 25.

Heh? 20016 was a month earlier and this year's was supposed to be too.

Right, but normally you don’t want to announce the VP pick a month before the convention. You want they to speak in a controlled environment immediately after they are introduced to maximize the good exposure and limit the chances for negative stories.

This is the rumor yesterday on twitter, so take that with a grain of salt. But this was the explanation as to why Buttigieg was in DE yesterday

Pete’s presence in DE has already been explained in this thread. Pay attention.

Well, she set up the CFPB and came close to running the executive branch.

I think Rice is going to be SOS. I think he's going to pick Whitmer but have an extremely diverse cabinet to unveil simultaneously.

Rice for Sec Def. She is super qualified. And it would be wonderful to have a woman and a POC in that role. She’d do a great job and it’s more in the area she shines.

Kamala for AG

Duckworth for VP. Hard for Trump to attack her military record. Really, hard for Trump to attack her at all without looking line a bone spur loser.

Warren for Treasury or— hear me out— Education. Education in the era of COVID, universities folding, distance learning, student loan debt crisis is a massive job and she has the qualifications.

Buttigieg for VA.

I think Klobucher gets Sec of State for endorsing early and loudly and pulling herself out the the VP running early. There was a deal there of some sort.

What’s Booker’s natural fit?

I immediately think Education for Booker, but his embrace of charter schools might do him in. As a mayor of a poor city, maybe HUD?

Sure, she is. "Bowe Bergdahl served with honor and distinction."

And this is why I love her for SecDef. She is very, very qualified. They would use that line against her for VP too. And an AA woman running the Pentagon would make the GOPpers heads explode.

I hate the look of putting the AA guy in Ben Carson’s job. But, he’d probably do it very well.

It’s actually an incredibly important job, and it would be nice to have someone qualified to do it. Housing policy should be interesting over the next 4 years - will be curious how COVID changes the landscape.

Agree, it’s SecState or some other senior advising role. She is literally the only prospect with an inexhaustible supply of quotes and policy decisions that can be weaponized. Joe may love and admire her, but he’s not stupid. Don’t think the DNC would ever sanction it either. Pretty sure it will be Harris or Bass.

Booker or Buttigieg for HUD. Klobuchar has no credentials for SecState. SecAgriculture, but she’d probably prefer to preserve seniority in the Senate where she’d have a great working relationship with the WH. Maybe Senate Majority leader.

No way. Military brass needs to respect the choice and they’d hate her. Biden very much cares about the military and understands how crucial it is to understand Pentagon culture and preserve a good working relationship there. Michele Fleurnoy (sp?) is a good prospect for first woman SecDef.

It’s not Harris based on (1) the don’t trust her debate debacle which Joe may forgive but not Jill or Valerie (2) the Op Ed piece by Willie Brown giving her a graceful excuse for not being the nominee (3) she didn’t poll well among Black voters when she was running for President and her campaign was a disaster (3) her prosecution history and positions on things like body cameras for the police and (4) she is listed as a speaker already for the convention.

Bass has a better shot she has the Florida/Castro and communism problems to overcome.

After his VP pick of Susan Rice, I hope he picks Sally Yates for AG.
