Public Trump Impeachment Hearing Mega Thread

Pelosi has won, no matter what McConnell does. She has forced him to bind himself and every Republican Senator 100% to Trump.

If McConnell succeeds in pushing a quick vote without a legitimate trial, Republican Senators will have branded themselves as corrupt idiots.

The Senate vote will not be the end of anything. Rudy Giuliani will be indicted by SDNY after the impeachment trial is over. The press and SDNY will continue to expose more crimes of Trump, Giuliani, and the criminal conspiracy. More whistleblowers will come out. Trump will continue to hold himself above the law and use his office for political benefit. He will crash and bring down the whole Republican Party with him.

Dems are losing the House in 2020.

Sad, but entirely predictable and deserved.

If it were really urgent as the Dems said it was they would have done something with the vote already. The fact that they're sitting on it means it wasn't important at all and they're just trying to play politics over the fact that they couldn't win an election. Huge mistake by pelosi and co.

Your opinion isn’t supported by reality.

Pelosi holding up doesn’t really matter. Trump approval rate didn’t go down a bit. People don’t really care much about impeachment not to mention Pelosi’s tactics.

Not the point. Dig deeper in you “analysis”. This put pressure on moderate republican senators, and gave a low information public time to catch up. It’s a very simple catch phrase and they will hang it around any republic who votes against it.
“A trial should have witnesses and evidence.”

Well we’ll see. If Pelosi transmits the articles without getting any assurance from GOP senators, would you accept her gamble didn’t work out?

Why would she do that?

She is pressured to do so. Again, would you accept that her strategy failed if she does that?

Pressured by who? McConnell? Graham? Don't hold your breath for her to bend to wills of those hypocrites. And, no, I would not accept that her "strategy" failed. The failure is on the GOP for not honoring its oath to uphold the constitution. Even Romney is morally rotten.

Why are so many Republican Congressman retiring?

Bookmarked. This is nonsense. The GOP House has lost two dozen members including the one in charge of recruitment.

Jut the fact that the Senate is trying to spin a trial starting *next week* is enough to show how much Trump is pressuring them. He wants to be able to claim he was exonerated by the Senate.

It isn't going to happen because Pelosi isn't sending the articles over until she knows what the rules are. Note, she has NEVER tried to dictate what those rules are, she wants to know so she knows who and how many to pick as House Managers.

The GOP can spin this however they want, but the fact is that the public is not with McConnell on this.

She will send over the articles because she knows that McConnell has the support to bypass the existing rules in the Senate ....... and just as important there are Democratic senators who are tired of her delay tactics which are not going anywhere.

Yes, Trump will claim exoneration and there may well be a couple of Democratic senators who vote against removal. He can rightly claim exoneration ...... and Pelosi knew full well that he would be exonerated and still proceeded with this idiotic attempt to remove him from office.

+1

In the end, the public will agree that no one is above the law. Even a slime ball like DJT.

Trump acted badly. Everyone knows it. But a number of people think it's overlookable.

That doesn't mean Pelosi is wrong. Or idiotic.

LOL. We'll see.
My bet is she sends them over within the week. Her little presser today showed that she is a bit short-tempered at being questioned about holding onto the articles. When you have Democrats questioning the wisdom of such a move, you are losing.
I don't think Trump is pressing them at all. He is fundraising off this fiasco.

You know who IS pressuring her? Booker, Klobuchar, Warren, Sanders....... They have good reason to want to get this over with.

Mitch is changing the rules to force the transmission of the articles by January 12 or else face a quick non-Article based "trial" - I say go for it, it will backfire bigly because the American public does NOT support that kind of action at all.

Nancy is like a cornered rat at this point. She had made a pretty big strategic blunder. I give her until Monday.

Blunder? Forcing McConnell to come up with some nonsensical unconstitutional impeachment dismissal?

She hasn't blundered.

You think the American public, which already, majority, thinks Trump should be removed, is going to stand for a sham "trial" to exonerate the president? Good luck with that.
