Last minute shuffle- report here.

I think we are entering the last minute shuffle which will be less-crazy that in previous years thanks to the Common Lottery. Are you a last minute shuffler or shufflee? Report here.

Just accepted a PK3 spot at Bridges, giving up a spot at our local DCPS. Don't know whether I would have done so if school had already started.

What was your wait list number at Bridges?

there's not a school I'd move for at this point except LAMB, and that's not happening. Good luck to others though!!

Curious how the leaving bit works. What are you guys losing? Just a deposit or tuition or what?

Curious about this too. DCJCC makes you pay out the whole year. It is a tight contract as private preschools try to hold on during this age of free preschool.

It's hard to blame them. Private preschool takes a huge hit with so many tax funded public age 3 programs now available. And for parents who realize the lottery might not come knocking again next year, it's hard to part with the money but most will decide it's better to take the hit now rather than risk not getting a good spot next year.

I lost a 3,000 deposit in April (my fault for signing so early - I had no faith in the lottery coming through). The school did let us count it as a tax deductible gift, which helps quite a bit. We'll likely get audited though since we've never given that much before. But we're squeaky clean, so I am not worried.

Awesome! Which class is your child in? Mine is in Ms. Bryant and Ms. Lillian.

Heh. So this is why I've seen so many posts to the neighborhood listserve from parents about how a "great spot has opened up at JCC!"
