Just heard from stokes for pk4 I think we was number 12 we declined. Good luck to the person who will get that spot |
I of course feel for families who got shut out of the lottery and defaulted to a private option or moved out of DC. But I have to say, the seemingly limited amount of shuffling is such good news. It's so much better for schools and individual classrooms to not have a rotating cast of characters those first few weeks when teachers are trying to built cohesiveness and a sense of community within the classroom. We lotteried back in 2010...I have to say, each year since the lottery process has gotten better and better. Not a fan of how if you get a bad lottery pull you get bad waitlist numbers for all schools, but I know all the stats experts on here will tell me that it's better this way. Other than that, good job My School DC. |
We got a spot at Creative Minds, pk3, during the first week of school (our waitlist number was high 20s). We decided to take it and leave Bridges. I like Bridges, but Creative Minds was basically our top choices and better location-wise this year. |
You likely got our space. We loved the classroom, but after four days of school got off a waitlist at a charter closer to our house that felt like a better fit for our kid. Best of luck on an awesome year-- the parents and teachers in that classroom were fantastic from all our interactions. |
Yes, we probably did take your spot! Thank you!! Glad things worked out the way they did, and good luck to you guys at your new school. |
Accepted a 1st grade Bridges spot last week. |
Offered a spot at Capitol Hill Montessori at Logan for PK 3. Turned it down and staying at Mundo Verde. |
What number were you if you don't mind sharing |
Also offered a spot at Capitol Hill Montessori for PK3. WL# in mid-50s. |
Wow-- that's pretty far down the list. Are you taking it? |
No, I declined. I don't want to move at this point since DD is happy at drop off, no more tears. Too much stress to move right now after a month of school. |
Yes, friends of ours moved across the country this summer - their daughter would have been in 1st grade. They loved ITS! |
