I don’t know how the acts were described by the girls or Josh - or if they were described honestly - but please understand that rape in most jurisdictions, including Arkansas, does not require penis inserted into vagina.

Here is the Arkansas statutory definition of the acts that constitute rape:

“Deviate sexual activity: means any act of sexual gratification involving the penetration, however slight, of the anus or mouth of a person by the penis of another person; or the penetration, however slight, of the labia majora or anus of a person by any body member or foreign instrument manipulated by another person.”

If he put his fingers in their vaginas however slightly, he raped them. Period.

I have to say I've come to really respect Jill's husband, Derick. He supports her in everything, comes across as really gentle and loving in their Q&A videos, is exposing Jill to "public school" books and movies. He said if they ever have a daughter, he would want her to be whatever she wants to be, and to aim to be financially independent from any man. He also believes that the earth is in fact billions of years old. And is the one who helped support her to ask for fair compensation from their television work (hence a big reason why he enrolled in law school). They're still very, very conservative Christians, but at least seem to be open to a more balanced way of living. He seems like a decent man, and I'm glad that at least one of the girls was able to "escape" to a more loving family life.

This only happened when he couldn't make money off of Jill and her family anymore. He also chose a very sheltered Jill for a wife. I'm not sold on him just yet, I actually think he has an agenda of his own.. I am happy Jill is going to counseling and hopefully she finds it helpful enough that should she need or want to divorce in the future she can do so.

I mean look, Derick grew up in a sheltered fundamentalist Christian family as well, so he had certain expectations of what he was supposed to be, and what kind of person he was supposed to marry, much in the same way the Duggers have been indoctrinated. But it seems like they're both finding their moderate niche together - which is nice. They even drink alcohol occasionally. The fact that he's super supportive of therapy, counseling, a public school education, among other things... is HUGE and light years above how they grew up (even though they are no brainers for those of us who grew up semi normal).

Yeah I grew up super fundamentalist which is why I'm super skeptikal of Derek in his motives, not ready to crown him yet. Time will tell.
