| So when you have a Technical Director at GFR coaching at Bethesda….that’s not double dipping?? Love to see that BS contract. Guys perspective. That club has no ethics at its core. Pot calling the kettle black. No soccer club in the DMV outside of VDA has really any ethics. |
Same “unfair” impact, and isn’t ethics ultimately about ensuring fairness? Super Y is separate from the fall / spring team, players choose to participate to get better and build relationships with the coach they’ll have for the regular season (so they get more playing time), the coach decides who makes the team and of course picks the best available players, the parents pay the club for their DC to participate, and the club pays the coach to coach the team he picked. The exact same “unfairness” results to regular season players who choose not to participate or don’t make the Super Y team as when a coach does private training with kids on his team during the regular season, the only difference is that the club gets a cut. Any guess why clubs are ok with Super Y but not private training? Hint: It has nothing to do with what is fair to your DC. |
VDA? Don’t be naive. |
|
You guys are funny…GD has had his business longer than most of you have had kids playing soccer. I know at least 20+ kids that have trained and developed with him throughout the years including and are either playing P4 or committed to P4 along with quite a few other D1s. That includes the current top ranked 2026 in DMV and FOY at West Point, starter at Pitt, among many others.
The man has turned down offers from ECNL and GA for years now. He did not have a desire to coach the highest level, but rather just train privately and coach lower level. Futsal is his specialty. I am actually shocked he took this position. IMO though, he seems best for young ages. Like 8-13. I think coaching older ages allows his anger and frustrations to show. |
Naive? VDA got rid of its problem coach and replaced him with the top Director and Marketer in NOVA, BP. QP meanwhile is one of the best soccer business minds in NOVA as well. That is why whey are so successful. The best people make the best businesses. |
His new VRSC 2013s are 12 and 13 years old, so perfect! Looking forward to the change. |
You could say the same about winter futsal. |
You mean he’s TOLD you he turned down offers from ECNL and GA teams for years now. He’s a bullshitter of epic proportions, don’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth. He was fired from Bethesda and FCV and has a terrible reputation in the soccer community. VRSC is desperate and that’s the only reason they’re taking him. |
Yes, there are many unserious players in the target age groups or those that helicopter in and expect to receive more playing time than others who are putting in the work. I for one would welcome a different perspective at the coaching position. Seems like a win for VRSC. |
| VRSC staff on here strong voicing support for this Gus guy. The club is desperate to find coaches for their ga program. Nobody wants to be associated with the owners after this year. |
Ok, Gus. |
Ok Bobby! I just threw up a little. |
| I see a lot of GF parents moving to this blog. Does this mean some type of merger is in the works? A while ago there was some controversy at GF since the owner was making $150k for doing nothing. I agree with what was said that gf parents are the worst entitled jackasses around. |
I think you meant to write VRSC parents. This would be a perfect merger BTW. Hahaha |
GFR doesn’t have an owner but the ED was making $130k. I wouldn’t say he was doing nothing, he just wasn’t doing what he was being paid for - he was too busy lining fields and coaching teams to effectively run the club. We have a new ED now who already seems to be much more effective and communicates with members and coaches very well. We will see if she can manage to improve the club overall |
