No that was his networth; $114 million. Hers was I think $350 million give or take, as reported by People, per their divorce docs |
So she is more successful than him, not surprised. A lot of men can’t handle that. |
I realize he’s a well known country artist who became a celebrity by marrying Kidman, but he simply isn’t as widely known as Bad Bunny or Carrie Underwood. I doubt many tweens or teens or even college students know who Urban is. I’m certain hardly any people who aren’t country music fans and north of 40 know who he is (particularly minorities). That doesn’t mean he isn’t successful. It just means he isn’t universally famous and never hit the level like some crossover artists. ICYMI: Zach Bryan sold his catalog for north of $300M. Ask any college kid to name a ZB song and they can. You can’t say the same for Urban. |
He's in a completely different generation that the people you are citing. He was at peak in the early 2000's so yes it makes sense younger fans won't know him as well but he is universally famous even to non country fans. He is a household name. His music is not even my genre but I knowat least three of his songs. That's fame....He also was on American idol which millions of people watched. My point is not that he is in the same league as Bryan or Underwood, perhaps he's not but that does not mean he does not have a significant level of fame. He does. |
| *fame, fortune and longevity |
| Maybe Nicole was Keith’s beard, like she was for Tom Cruise? |
Sc=entology entered the chat. |
You're all looking for zebras. Personally I think she has a type. Cruise and Urban kind of look the same if taken at the same age. I'm sure she married for love both times, but it's extremely hard to keep a marriage alive while prioritizing one's work and being in the spotlight and having a famous husband as well, who also is trying to prioritize his work! Also, it's OK for a woman to prioritize her work!!! |
lol. She ain’t worth anywhere near $350m. You people are so damn dumb. |
Not over her kids. |
babygirl being the first crack as a theory is getting a little momentum, now "several sources" confirmed by PageSix. |
Lazy theory. |
Different poster. I think I’m just surprised at how few albums he has sold because you’re right. I do feel like he is well known, but it might be in part because of his marriage. For reference, Matty Healy, who if you’ve been on the Taylor Swift threads, you probably know, has sold 15 million albums. Again that is a younger generation person who’s been around a lot less than Keith Urban, and they’ve sold basically the same amount. I think outside the Taylor Swift world a lot of people in the US have probably not heard of Matty. So it just surprises me that they’re on par with the same number of albums. Perhaps Keith Urban has just had more success touring or something. I think I’ve just been surprised that he really has not sold that many records. And I guess his success has been more of a slow burn, as it doesn’t seem like he had that many hits on the radio either and yes, I’m including country radio. |
| People may know him or his fame is tied to Nicole’s celebrity. But in terms of country music cred, it’s all him. He didn’t gain county music fans because of her. His last albums aren’t selling because they’re less and less country - at a time country is swinging back to more tradition country and even folksy. His last blockbuster hit was 10 years ago. Also, modern country radio and fans age out their stars. He’s almost 60. He’s had a great run and he still does well on arena/amphitheater tours, especially in Canada and Australia. It will be interesting if the new show with Blake Shelton will find an audience. |
Right but a few folks are trying to have it both ways. It’s true musicians tend to put out their best selling stuff when they are young with a few exceptions but the point of him being as old as he is as he came up in a time when people were selling records. It was just much easier. If you got a major record label, you just shot past 99.9% of people versus today where anyone can put out their own stuff on social media, and it could go viral. So even with all the advantages of coming up the traditional way, and putting out his most successful music when people were still buying records, he really did not sell that many records. It just seems weird people are trying to make Keith Urban happen. I guess it’s a dig at Nicole? People hate her because she’s had a bunch of plastic surgery or she’s aging? I don’t know. I don’t get it. It’s a weird defense of him. He’s been moderately successful. There’s no doubt his marriage has helped him stay relevant. |
