It's almost impossible for a woman to reach menopause and still be an A-lister female lead doing a respectable number of movies.

Nicole Kidman is in a very, very small cohort of these women.

I am not surprised that the rest of her life suffers. Her personal appearance must be her top priority at all times, involving procedures, beauty routines, strict diet and exercise programs. And then she needs to market herself to all the executives out there. And then she needs to keep up with the same memorization and top notch skills she's always had as an actress.

I tend to agree....I think she is enormously ambitious and deeply hungry still professionally, and she's prone to compensating by saying she "has a strong family" "family is everything" , it always felt like such an overcompensation. She loves work and is probably a workaholic and her actions have always spoken to what she values versus ( like all of us) what she and her professional teams say. I have always thought there was likely a big gap between her private self and her persona. This one did not surprise me. She was married to Tom Cruise for over a decade. She knows exquisitely how to use her PR machine. But cracks have shown over the years.....I don't think we'll ever know the true story, just like with Cruise. I think she has a lot of secrets basically.

PP you replied to. I don't see it so negatively. Would you say an ambitious and very successful man with several past marriages has lots of secrets, is showing cracks and is deeply hungry professionally? I think it's perfectly normal for a very successful celebrity to have a public persona and a different personality in private. They have to, if they want to market themselves optimally.

I find no fault with her at all. I am merely pointing out that women at the top of their professions rarely have everything. We are still living in a world where it's easier for men at the top of their professions to have everything. Because they're never expected to be as involved in their family's life as women are.

For many years into her career I never sensed any true warmth in Nicole Kidman. She can be charming and engaging but true warmth? Not so sure. If you look at older pictures of her she often has a striking, aggressive stare....and she was often not smiling. I think there is an intensity there that she covers over and I actually wonder if this is probably more of who she is. I've also always wondered about her desire to play psychopathic characters, she's played a few. I may get laughed off the board, but I don't think she is quite right. And the announcement coming on a Monday versus a Friday as well as the statement that she did not want this and he left her suggests she may be feeling vindictive.

She has never really seemed into parenting. More of the career type trying to continue looking youthful and beautiful and runway ready.
