Hegseth can’t meet the requirements himself.

So he skips pull ups and leg day.

I've seen that video before. Could it be that one pull up in that four second video is the last of a bunch of pull ups?

Pete did 50 pull ups and 100 push ups in about 5 1/2 minutes as part of the Pete and Bobby challenge.

Say what you want about the guy, he is in good shape.

It’s easy when you take off-label testosterone like he and RFK do.

Well mentally he's not well.

This is our President.

Why aren’t the media saying he’s an idiot with dementia? Unfit as Biden was at the very least. At least Biden wasn’t screaming out random policy on social media.

Neither was a good choice. We need age limits.

Agree to age limits across the board. Republican’s comparing Biden to Trump is laughable. Typical scapegoating. You won’t admit your guy is a sadistic psychopath, liar, felon, rapist….and the Epstein files. Y’all are so gullible. Do you know how easy it is to find unredacted documents? Do you know how many people have them?

How odd. Like, why would they go to the expense and trouble of summoning so many people from all over the world, only to have Trump ramble on and make no sense and deliver no clear, direct updates or orders? Did the Big Boy just want to line up his toy soldiers? It makes no sense.

Hopefully Option 4: Wait it out. Maybe, just maybe some externality will change the landscape before Trump sics (more) troops on citizens.

Your #4 is the most likely. No one should resign. They need to stay there and refuse unlawful orders. No coup-we do not want a military coup unless things are really really really bad. Those never work out.

I think #4 is like being a frog in a pot of hot water - it will be boiling before they jump. You either make the move now or you have agreed to capitulate.

He still tweeted in support of his church leaders discussing repealing the 19th amendment. His mind is anti freedom. Ick.

I don't think that's a fair read in the circumstance. These people are military lifers. They ARE the military -- they have been there sustaining and building the institution long before Trump showed up. They should stay--and we should want them to stay--until they are asked to do something illegal.

If they leave, they'll be replaced by toadies and there will be little hope of repair anytime in the foreseeable future. We will have ceded the military to real "enemy within."

Pretty much.

No he did not. It’s all a lie pushed by Fox News

Or maybe I should have put this in the dementia post....

I grant you permission to double post. Mod won’t mind.

The rest of it sounds crazy.

I agree. I don't mind high physical standards for the rank and file or officers in combat roles. Top generals... eh. They're old. They're valued for their experience and maturity, not their ability to do push-ups.

And the rest is grounds for impeachment and the 25th. No politicization of the military. No going after one's own country. What the hell.

NGL, I was always a little nervous about my 52 year old DH testing alongside 25 year olds and having to prove he was still fast and strong. These people are all competitive. That kind of thing gets scary as we get older.

Yep. My husband is 64, and in recent years has increased his workouts. He gets up randomly to do pull-ups and push-ups and whatnots. Competitive until he dies.

Yikes. Typical joyless competitive American man.

I wonder if Trump and Hegseth realize that probably more than half the audience today are from those blue states and cities?

Trump invited himself when he found out it was going on (as evidenced by his absolutely worn-out, moronic speech that had nothing to do with the audience at hand). Hegseth just wanted the photo opp. In both cases, they absolutely humiliated and discredited themselves in front of military leadership.
