What SHOULD Dems do?

This is the problem in a nutshell: “Voters aren’t ready to admit how right the Democrats were about everything.”

Pretty much. The consensus seems to be that the best course of action is to explain to voters even more that they are wrong and Democrats are always right in all things.

Can any Democrat articulate a 2028 candidate that is electable in a national election, and a 2028 message that is more substantive and original than "anything but Trump"? I bet you can't.

So tiresome. Dozens of posts listing viable candidates, and most Democratic positions are moderate and popular (until maligned by Fox News). You’re the ones with the headache now, because Don’s poll numbers are dropping like a rock and the Administration has ZERO to show for its first 100 days other than a looming, self-inflicted recession. Want to know a winning Democratic messsge? How about basic economic competence.

This.
The song about Democratic Party failure is not really resonating as the disaster of Trump’s first two months become apparent.

Democratic Party failure is why we’re here. Dems are the less trusted party now on most of the issues voters consider important. Democrats’ covid behavior erased the Party’s previous trust advantages on education and health care. The senile Presidency followed by the no-primary nominee eroded support for the Party further. And the migrant and trans stuff hurts the Party’s support too. Of course people mostly blame Trump and the stupid voters for our current disaster. But they also blame Democrats for all the mistakes that weakened opposition to a terrible Republican candidate. He should have been easy to beat. But Dems managed to blow it. It’s not 100% obvious that Trump’s current bad behavior will lead to an outpouring of support for the Democratic Party that let him win.

Exactly. Right now a lot of DCUM Democrats seem to believe that the issue is Trump. It is not. If Trump doesn’t run in 2028, they are even more at risk.

Trump, with all the awful stuff he is doing now, is more popular than the Democrats. Let that sink in.

Right. It's the Democrats fault that the Republicans are terrible. Republicans have no agency. They are a force of nature with no wit or morality. It's Democrats: job to save Republicans from their own mistakes. (Fitting to remember this on the 15th anniversary of ACA.)
Republicans and Democrats are like pitbulls and the adopters that care for them, respectively

Anyone who voted for a republican/t-rumpo is a stupid, racist, misogynist.

X1000

Hillary was right. Kamala was right.

The only Party we can control is our own. We have to figure out how to offer voters policies and results they actually want. But instead, we are very focused on wanting the OTHER party’s voters to admit that they were stupid for voting against Kamala Harris. They WERE stupid, quite obviously. But forcing them to admit that to us is an unproductive area of focus that crowds out more important issues.

Please for the love of God look at the polling data. The Democrats are less popular than Trump now, even with Trump’s popularity dropping.

God I am so tired of Democrat delusions.

LOL. That’s because us Dems hold our party accountable whereas the you Trumpsters don’t.

Just as I predicted, all you've got are attacks on Trump.

can any Dem out there name one good candidate, and one positive message of your own, beyond just sarcastic attacks on Trump like "basic economic competence"? I bet you can't.

Other than the meaningless "MAGA", can you give me a single instance where Trump has articulated a POSITIVE vision for America? One that doesn't involve scary immigrants, angry tirades against his opponents, or ridicule of our allies? If not, STFU.

Strike two!

Can anybody on the Dem side name an electable candidate and serious, positive message without attacking Trump? I bet you can't.

They need to stop their need for political purity and their resulting in-fighting. It's ridiculous to call for Schumer's resignation. It's the same as the GOP calling for judges to be impeached.

They need to refocus their message on the working class. The people barely surviving through a gig economy, with inflation and possibly stagflation coming their way. They need to look at whole systems to understand why there are housing shortages and not primarily focus on helping the most vulnerable. Don't stop helping them, but that can't be your main messaging. Your messaging has to be we are all in this together. Let's create opportunity for all, so that all can thrive.

You have to stop demonizing whole classes of people. Police, white men, Karens. Republicans themselves. It feels good. I get it. I feel it too. But you are alienating half the nation. We talk about being inclusive. Walk the walk. Include those you disagree with. Make genuine room for diversity of perspective too.

Yes, the democratic party represents eliists today. It's very out of touch with agendas that don't match what ordinary people are looking for.

If Peter Butigieg was a woman, he would win the nomination and the Presidency. As a man he’s unfortunately too short.

If JB Pritzker gets a personal trainer, he could win. Or Mark Kelley with hair transplants. Or Tim Kaine with reshaped eyebrows. We have a lot of “B” candidates who need makeovers if they wanna go to the big show.
