Parent's money doesn't play on the field. A parent can drop $10,000 a year and if their kid sucks they suck. It's not about money. It's about TALENT. McLean has the best GIRLS talented players in the area. 2013 Green is just one example. Ranked top 10 in the nation for the last few years. There are other similar teams. Kids want to play on winning teams with other players are who talented and who WIN. That's why so many clubs hate McLean because they are a draw to any player who's actually good. Now, the for the boys side it's a different story. But, for girl players McLean is the best spot. |
Questions on the McLeam Boys Side:
1. Has a formal announcement been made yet, like was done on the girls side? 2. I saw informally in an FAQs list that McLean Boys Team 1 will be MLS Next II and Team 2 will be NAL. But isn’t NAL operating MLS Next II? Will there still be a separate NAL league? |

What has the club communicated to the other teams (white and gold)? How will this impact them? |
As a longtime MYS parent I spoke to directors and each age group will have a GA team and a GA aspire team. Like it was said earlier in the post the GA aspire section of the email is referring to the RL teams and players on those teams will also have the chance of trying out for the GA team. Also I grew up playing in the area including in college and with my kids playing at different clubs I’ve gotten to know a lot of coaches in the area. From what I gather MYS and NVA are going to GA…Bethesda will eventually be required to switch over to GA since GA is now partnered with MLS next and Arlington has put in a bid for MLS next but won’t find out if accepted until next winter which would switch them over to GA as well. I expected the change eventually just not this early due to problems at ECNL. It will be interesting to see since ECNL is changing age groupings and MLS next/GA is not. Overall these leagues and the changes are a mess and parents just have to do their best to navigate it as the landscape continues to change |
Yes, MLS I MLS II EA I/NAL I EA II/NAL II |
Wait so SYC won't be the ONLY team with MLS Next and GA? |
Not I. I loved watching my kids play against McLean. It was always fun to see the parents so demoralized after the games. |
Same will go to all ECNL clubs with MLSN. PDA, FC DELCO, SLSG will have to choose if they care more about the girls or boys 😁 |
Go back to baseball Charlie |
The 2013 team is remnant of DB. He's gone and so is the talent after his departure. 2014 is not even in the same ballpark as 2013 and my sources say 2015 is even less so. It shows a trend that is not favorable and now moving to GA will not help bolster those teams it will only hurt. |
Riding coat tails of McLean being one of two ecnl programs in the dmv way back in the day before girls DA came along and failed. |
Might be giving to much credit to DB, the 2013's are still ranked like top ten in country (on rankings app for whatever thats worth) and #1 in VA |
Stop making stuff up - you actually don’t know a lot. |
I don't think so. No one is talking about the upcoming McLean Girls after 2013 for a reason. |
