They are hoping the old Mclean kids that went to Union will return. |
They'll be just fine in GA Virginia |
This will serve Mclean and everyone. They created messed up partnerships that did not work for anybody and ruined boys and girls seasons. Now, at least, I want to think they will be more stable. |
Good luck with that |
DB had the 2011’s too. How’s that working out? |
Is that any fault of his? Prior to U13 a few years back the strong 2011 groups were Arlington, McLean and PWSI. Then came all the alliances aside from Arlington who continue to grow and get better. |
only one of those teams is making history while the others are just history |
The one making history didn't have to deal with any alliances. |
comfirmed |
This is why it's a great move for McLean. Take back control of your ship. At the end of the day on top of this being about soccer, it's also a business. All these problems sometimes come about because there's too many cooks in the kitchen and often don't share the same values or vision. |
Which is the same reason Loudoun Soccer will do it. They are big enough and it's better for their business to be known everywhere as LS. |
Some day GA may be the equal or better than ECNL. But that is not now. The key is college recruiting. ECNL is king. GA does ok with college recruiting so its not nothing. The 2006s recruiting was fine for GA but 2007 was bad and 2008 was worse. The top of the team and who knows where the line is top 5 or Top 8 will be ok on GA. No doubt about it. 6 or 9 -18 not so much. That is where the ECNL advantage is. College coaches spend more time with the mid and bottom of the ECNL rosters than they do with GA. Most top girls in the key recruiting years will not move to GA. There is going to be a lot of roster turnover on local teams I think. |
I think the writing maybe on the wall but people don’t want to admit it. If Arlington leaves ECNL there will pretty much be no one left for them to play. MLS next
Is key for boys so it will help GA grow. ECNL girls getting a greater share of D1 scholarships is about the players in ECNL not the level of coaching. As that paradigm continues to shift, ECNL will have to make some hard choices or disband altogether in 5-10 years. My guess is ECNL combines into MLS next/GA and the process starts over until the next person at the top gets pissed and starts their own league. Right now ECNL sometimes goes to MLS showcase but with the age group changings that probably won’t happen either so it will hurt college recruiting for ECNL boys even more |
Take a step back and know what it’s all about in youth $occer. McLean just easily clawed back at least over half a million to a million dollars in annual registration fees for 2 teams across 6 ages and 20-25 kids on each team. The rest is window dressing. |
Completely!!!! They had to change Leagues to do it, they don't believe they are doing anything better for your kid just their bottom line. Their right I'm ok with that, but not leaving ECNL for that. |
