Do you dissolve into a puddle of tears every time a company lays off staff? This happens ALL the time in companies and corporations, across entire industries.

Remember covid when people lost their jobs, their businesses, their livelihoods?

This. Government workers were calm and relaxed while the government put restrictions in place on most private industries that put tons of people out of work (either officially or unofficially by simply not allowing them to work to get a paycheck). It’s long overdue that the bloat was cut from our federal government. I don’t agree with everything that Trump does but this one I’m looking forward to.

Many functions will likely move to the states anyway. So unless you’re doing something completely useless, you probably still have options if you live in a blue state. There will be some disruption but that’s life.

Wow-- Envy 101 is all over this post. You need help.

Unemployment is still at record lows…what are you even talking about?

Record lows for low paying Joe jobs.

You are so dense. Most gov workers were very sympathetic to those who couldn’t work because of the pandemic, and fully supported PPP, eviction freeze etc. it’s the incoming party that opposes all that (well except keeping PPP to help the bottom line, whoops can’t find my workers).

I am ALWAYS upset when a layoff happens, most especially when a profitable company lays off people to goose stock.

that post has some weird hostility underlying it. And the hostility isn't even based on anything real. Federal workers are overwhelmingly pro-worker, pro-union.

I can only conclude it's jealousy and he was rejected often on usajobs.

Who do you think was “put of work”? It wasn’t professionals anywhere. Again…is this pandemic closures that happened in 2020 when Trump was president?

I still don’t even know what we are talking about with tons of people out of work.

If you were truly sympathetic to the people struggling in private industry then you would not have supported the shutdowns. It wasn’t that anyone “couldn’t” work because of the pandemic. It’s that the government (which is really just people - people like you) prohibited it. They prohibited people from going out and enjoying meals in restaurants, working out in gyms, etc. Supporting eviction freeze doesn’t help either since many small time landlords needed that money to live. The shutdowns were a disaster of government overreach and were the reason that so many people all lost their livelihoods and are in a horrible position now. All while government workers were safe. Forgive me for not being sympathetic to government workers now that they need to justify why they actually deserve their paycheck.

Many many private professional people were working from home as well. Most federal workers had nothing to do with these policies. They were just following office place guidance.

And thr factvthat the shutdowns were the government trying to keep.people from dying. Over a million people died of COVID, including my father in law and my aunt. My Dad is a physician and the hospitals were on the verge of collapse, during the early days when they were still figuring out treatments he watched nurses in their 30s and 40s cath COVID and die. My brother worked at a hospital doing IT and one of their colleagues died as well in the early days, a young guy too. The idea that shutdowns were this horrible thing imposed for no reason shows how completely disconnected you were from what the health system went through.

Umm NP but the shut down decision-making had *nothing* to do with the rank and file feds. I and many of my coworkers were very against shut downs (once the initial ~6 months passed). We did not get any PPP loans. We still had to work (my agency didn’t give so much as an hour of admin leave). I had young kids at home (including a kindergartener doing virtual school) while DH and I staggered hours and stayed up late to get our work done. We rearranged our (not super huge) home to suddenly have 2 adults WAH full time.

Further shutdowns were largely imposed by local governments (the counties were the ones shutting down schools and businesses). And even within local governments it is a subset of employees with the powers to implement this. The average worker at any level of government has no control over this anymore than most private sector employees have control over corporate decisions.

I get you’re looking for excuses to not be sympathetic to feds and at this point I don’t care because clearly you’re just not going to gain any sympathy. But your pretzel logic is totally embarrassing for you.

The PP has the logic of an angry toddler trying to lash out at incoherently because they have no idea how anything actually works.

I am literally laughing SO hard that someone thinks that government decisions like shut downs are made of “people just like you.” Hah what? I’m an attorney who interprets and writes memos about complex regulations. Nobody bothered to ask me a thing about how to handle COVID.

Serious, bahahahaha! Can you imagine thinking *1.5 million* GS level fed employees had any say in local governments shutting things down?! How do you become disgruntled and stupid enough to think like this?
