Kate Middleton looks really happy lately

I always get a good laugh out of the insanely jealous and petty comments from the usual DCUM harpies. Kate Middleton puts you all to shame. Love to see it!

Lots of folks are social climbers—just not many are to the extent that Kate was. A ten-year commitment takes a lot of dedication.

See?? This is reprehensible. She met someone, they clicked, and didn’t commit to someone else until their story played out. I actually did the same with my husband…. We met at 21 and married at 30… I wasn’t “waiting around” I was actively involved in my own life and living it happily while he lived his… when the time was right he proposed and we are happy married and going on 25 years! Wtf, let them be!

If you also didn’t develop any sort of career or lasting friendships in all that time then yea you were “waiting around”

Oh please. The vast majority of ppl, even college-educated women, don't have these huge impressive meaningful impactful careers. And many women married to wealthy men SAH or serve on BS boards etc as a "job." Who cares that she wasn't busting her butt in some menial 9-5 everyday?

The part about no lasting friendships is an odd dig as well. How would you know?

Listen I’m sorry you are either so old that women didn’t have careers prior to marriage or didn’t go to college but most women do in fact have legitimate careers prior to marriage. Even within their circle, Chelsy Davy was a lawyer at a magic circle firm, Jecca Craig founded a number of influential wildlife conservation organizations, Eugenie had an actual career prior to marriage (also was an art history major like Kate), as did Sophie. But why work a “menial 9-5” when you can do the meaningful work of being a part-time accessories intern at Jigsaw?????

Haha this is hilarious as I am the opposite of what you are assuming about me.

But I stand by what I said - many careers are nothing special. Especially the early years. You see this all the time even on the Jobs forum on DCUM.

Of corse Diana was. I think both Kate and Diana are (were, respectively) social climbers.

ITA. She chased after (or waited for) that man for 10 years of her life.

Another in agreement. I don't think it's particularly dignified to take someone back after cheating and who makes it clear you're the backup. I guess she's dignified in putting up with humiliation but I don't find that particularly admirable.

DP. It’s not dignified and not what most people would want for their daughters. However, she really sacrificed a lot for her family or origin. If it weren’t for being royal adjacent her parents would’ve gone broke years ago and her siblings, especially her bummy brother, would not have been able to marry as well as he did.

+1 same for her sister. No way Pippa would’ve landed a billionaire.

Probably not, but I remember pre-wedding Carol Middleton sort of low key admiting she had groomed her daughters to marry well and expressing real shock that Kate was the one who was ascending into this position. To her, she thought Pippa was cuter and had a more lively, outgoing personality. Of course she is their mom and loves them, but the subtext read like, "I raised them the same but I never thought it would be the more homely, boring one who did this!"

Since the ball boy thread was removed: if anyone is interested. There is a YouTube of Kate and Roger Federer training with the ball boys and girls in which Kate interacts with many of them. She acknowledges a mistake and then plats a set with Federer

The ball boys and girls at Wimbledon meet and see the best tennis players in the world. That may be more important to these tennis players than a handshake from a royal.

LOL. Those were all cushy “careers” through the benefit of their society or family connections.

Kate is definitely much better looking than Pippa. At boarding school they called Pippa pan face. And I don’t think William wanted someone lively or outgoing. I’m sure her mom was just building up Pippa since at that point she was the next one they were trying to get hitched.

As a tennis fan I’m sure they don’t care about the royals and are there to see the professionals.

Also not to nitpick but there is no way Federer and Kate “played a set”. Maybe they hit some balls around but as good of a recreational player as Kate is there’s no chance she could even return one of his serves. He’s one of the greatest tennis players of all time a D1 women’s tennis athlete would have a hard time keeping up with him.

She is married to Billy the Bully, clearly a narcissist as well. Must be a good actress to pull looking happy.

What is confusing? Playing a set in tennis means playing a number of games. Roger Federer is an elite tennis player. Kate is not. I don’t believe Kate could play a number of games against Federer.

It helps that she has no other options.

DP. There's a reason that people prefer to watch women's tennis, fwiw. In women's tennis, they return serves, unlike men's.

You try returning a 140 mph serve

Right. In men's tennis, no one returns serves.

But that's boring. In women's tennis, they volley. Much better to watch.
