Ted Lasso - Season 3

This occurred to me too and I think it must be because she was rooting for Jamie and his team and would have been heckled mercilessly if she had shown up at the hometown game rooting for a rival.

Ted goes home to be with his son, leaving Beard, Nate, and Roy to run the team. It’s up to the viewer to decide whether he reunites with his wife based on all that he’s learned about vulnerability.

Becks and the assistant want Rebecca’s advice about how they can use Rupert’s Very Bad Behavior to win control of West Ham in the divorce, creating another woman-owned team and leaving Rupert bested once again. (I’ll be VERY annoyed if Rebecca adopts Rupert’s illegitimate child. Yuck. Also, I don't think Nate had anything to do with whatever scandal happened. I think when he told Rupert he had to leave a few eps ago, he was quitting, not just talking about leaving the restaurant.)

At the very end of the game, we see the Dutch man and his daughter cheering on the team from the stands.

I think they lose the game so there’s something for Nate, Coach Beard, and Roy to work toward.

I assume Roy and Keely get back together—but at this point I don’t even care. Keely is just a shell of her former self and seems to need to work on that. But this is one part romantic comedy, after all, so I think they’ll probably get their happy ending.

This all sounds really plausible to me. Wonder if the writers are thinking the same things. We'll know next week!

I already need to amend. I think we get a shot of the Dutch man and his daughter watching the game at home, and we see the man recognize Rebecca, who’s on tv as the owner. Now that he knows who she is—we can imagine they reconnect.

yeah that was good

Ted uses the f bomb....on his mother.

And I don't have a problem with that, although I never said it to my mother, ever.

Adults using bad language around other adults is okay with me in pretty much any circumstances.

Thank you for keeping us apprised of your feelings on use of "bad" words on the show -- I thought of you during that scene and I'm so glad to hear you were okay with it.

Seriously. So ridiculous.

Why are my feelings and opinions ridiculous? I'm very grateful and proud that anyone on DCUM is thinking of me while the characters on this show are swearing, it brings a tear to my eye.

No, what is being called ridiculous is your insistence in weighing in on every use of a swear word on a show that is not marketed to kids, doesn't air on broadcast TV, and has a lot of swearing in it. I get different people have different feelings about swearing, but no one else is like "let me go through all incidences of the f-word on Ted Lasso and tell you whether I thought they were appropriate and why."

OK, thanks for that explanation. Now tell me why it's any more ridiculous than those who are perseverating on what Nate does and why, or Keely or Beard or any other character. Just because nobody else but me is offended by the casual swearing in front of a little girl aspect of Roy's personality doesn't mean it isn't valid or that it is ridiculous. Just my opinion of course.

I think it’s extremely implausible that there is an illegitimate baby involved. More likely is the scenario offered earlier, that Becks (Bex?) and Ms. Kakes are banding together to sue Rupert and perhaps take over ownership of the team, with Rebecca. But that would mean Rebecca leaving Richmond and all the people she loves there, so that is doubtful to me. More likely, they want her to testify about Rupert’s horrible behavior to support their case.

DP. The people talking about Nate’s character are discussing a huge story arc in this show. All you’re doing is fretting about a fictional character swearing in front of another fictional character. Move on!

Just found this - a delightful Ted Lasso themed Sesame Street with Roy Kent!! So cute.

Brett Goldstein aka Roy Kent has a great podcast as well - Films to Be Buried With. It's like Desert Island Discs for movies.

One aspect of my personality that I share with many others on DCUM is that I don't just do what people on DCUM tell me to do. So there's that.

Noted. We will simply ignore your pearl-clutching. Have a great f-ing day!

I can see Becks (sp?) and Ms. Kakes banding together to take over ownership of Rupert's West Ham by themselves. They don't need Rebecca to do that, but they do need her advice and maybe her lawyer.

This would mean that women own two of the teams in Britain's top league. The league would start to move away from the awful mens' club Rebecca had to deal with earlier in the season. I can see the show liking an outcome like that.

To the PP telling people what they can and cannot they say on this thread about swearing: please STFU.

The actor has said Sesame Street is his favorite show of all time. So they invited him on.

I was thinking Rebecca stays at Richmond (but helps with convincing Rupert to leave the team to Bex, which I misspelled earlier) and now they have rival woman-owned teams.

Just wanted to clarify how I feel about Ted Lasso and Roy Kent as a character and Brett Goldstein as a person.

I love the show, never miss it, and Roy is one of my favorite characters, the other one is Rebecca, and I am really loving Jamie a lot too.

I was listening to Brett Goldstein's podcast last year, it's great. I also love Shrinking which he produces.

I love how Roy really does love his niece too, despite his foul language in her presence. This scene is one of my favorites and as soon as I saw it I downloaded the music to my Spotify playlist.

Maybe I shouldn't be so judgmental about what happens on a TV show, but then maybe you shouldn't be so judgmental about me.

I was wondering what his real voice sounded like and it’s so much less gruff! I wonder if he did any damage to his vocal cords playing Roy Kent.
